Hello friends!

I hope you’re all enjoying the sun or the shade, wherever you are! July has gone by so quickly, so here’s a little update on how July has been for me, I'd love to hear about your month in the comments:

Personal Life:

I hope you’ve all had a better July than I have, to be honest, it started a little rough. Back in January, I, and I'm sure everyone else, had very high hopes for this year. We'd set out our 2020 visions, however, things haven't exactly been going to plan...

Work opportunities have been lost leaving me in a difficult situation financially and mentally, and in late March important steps in building my creative career were cancelled. As for July, with moving day coming up, what was supposed to be an exciting move has led me to moving back in with my parents, all I'll say is, it's tough...

Things have been rocky this year and I'm massively disappointed about what I've missed out on. That being said the year isn't over yet and there is plenty of time to turn things around, including finishing ‘Half of Me’; I’m excited for you all to read episode two at the end of this week! I’m more than ready to put July behind me and continue to create and share my behind the scenes progress with ‘Half of Me’ and ‘Off Limits’.

And to those of you who may also be having a rough time at the moment and this year, I'm sending lots of hugs (virtual ones due to social distancing, haha), and I'm looking forward to us all turning things around for the remainder of the year. ❤️

Artistic development:

Moving was a really busy time for me and I’ve been left pretty burnt out trying to juggle work, the move and the Webtoon competition. It’s quite overcrowded at home so a lot of reshuffling needed to be done. What I have had time for though, during July, is developing my craft including studying light and colour. Thanks to YouTube and a few very insightful livestreams from Wacom (art tech company) I've learnt a lot and had a good refresher on using colour and tone to give my work more character! I'm so, so grateful for all of the amazing resources and feel inspired to create my own in the not to distant future. See if you spot the techniques I've been learning as I use this new found knowledge in my work and in Off Limits, haha!

Plans for Off Limits:

A little over a year ago, when I decided to write Off Limits, I was still a photographer and an urban explorer going with the flow. Writing a comic takes time, commitment and a lot of hard work that I’ve certainly had to adjust to! Over the last few months I have been researching and reading to develop my ideas and have decided to put more time and thought into the story and the world of Off Limits, creating much greater character connections and world building for a better reading experience for all of you!

I’ll be kicking things off with a mini series and will be starting work on this as soon as I'm finished with 'Half of Me', so you'll be seeing the behind the scenes progress in the next couple of weeks! There will be more news on this soon. You will all of course be taken along the creative journey, with concept art, in depth character profiles and mini stories whilst you wait.

YouTube:

My channel is on standby, a little hiatus, whilst I focus on illustration. My household is very busy  and noisy, making filming at home difficult. I have been brainstorming a way around this and will update you all when I next upload or livestream!

As always, thank you for your ongoing support, you're all amazing and I'm so grateful to be on this creative journey with you all! I know things are tough for some of us at the moment, so keep smiling and have a great weekend!
