Chapter 1

A fat, pudgy, short of breath Annie miserably carried a plate full of cured meats, cheese, and seedless green grapes still on the stem on a fancy charcuterie board. She huffed and sweated as she made her way from the fridge and wet bar, up a flight of stairs, and all the way down the hallway to where her room was.

“Oh Annieeee… I’m waaaaiiiiiting!” a mellifluous, lilting voice echoed powerfully through the entire house.

Back when she had control over her own life, using the enormous wealth given to her by her parents when they won the lottery, she had bought this large property and had made sure to get the largest and most private, distant room in the house. The stupid, super-treatment-gone-wrong girl never thought she’d come to regret it. Not like this.

“I… ha…hate…I hate….” she subvocalized deep in her throat as she climbed the stairs for the third time in as many minutes.

“Ba ba ba! Annie, you know I can hear you!” came Marie’s voice thundering through the hallways once more. “What were you saying?”

“I… Happy…” Annie was almost to her room now.

“I happy? What kind of a sentence is that? I’m helping you get in shape; are you telling me I have to fix your brain too?”

Annie swung open the door to her own bedroom. Not only were the wall posters of Super Alice that she’d torn down in frustration were once again on proud display—even higher than before— it also included posters of Kim, Patricia, and finally, Annie’s tormentress herself. Annie’d have to find a tall chair to stand on to try and rip it down.

Lying on Annie’s own bed, which had been deliberately made oversized when Annie had dreams and hopes of becoming super, was the girl who became a goddess in her place: Marie. She twisted around to greet her obese little servant, tracing the path of Annie’s eyes. She smiled cruelly. The bed fit Marie perfectly.

“Well? I’ve been waiting.”

Annie swallowed her pride as she approached the dark-skinned goddess. Before her transformation, she used to be a meek four-eyed nerdy girl. Now, she was an absolutely towering and beautiful woman. Everytime Annie looked at her, she was reminded of what she could have been.

“Super Marie… your third snack…” she presented the board.

“Alright Annie, you did such a good job. Why don’t you take a break? No, no, don’t sit down, stupid! You’ll get a cramp after all that exertion! Don’t you know anything?”

Annie’s legs and feet hurt. She tried to stretch her wobbly limbs to relieve some of the ache.

“No, of course you don’t!” Marie continued. “And you still wouldn’t, if you’d gotten your way and turned super. Pity about that. Oh well,” Marie chuckled.

Annie bit her tongue. Even after weekly visits, Marie’s barb still stung.

“Now be a good servant and can stand there and watch this livestream with me. I think you’ll find it… very interesting…”

As Marie “lay” on her side and took entire bunches of grapes, stuck them in her mouth and sucked the fruit right off the stems.

“Oh Annie, you have no idea how good this grape tastes. Becoming super makes everything taste and feel better!”

As Marie savored the grapes, Annie’s hunger made her feel more miserable than ever. After taking the treatment and missing her window, she had been cursed with eternal obesity. No matter how much she fasted or exercised, her fat wouldn’t ever burn. Her new diet routine was about stopping her from becoming even more obese, which included cutting of everything she loved.

Annie had an urge to just drop the rest of her food right on the floor in an act of defiance. Or maybe smash it over Marie’s stupidly sexy curls. Maybe Marie would even retaliate for once. Anything would be better than this frustration. This feeling of complete hopelessness and powerlessness—that even her largest outburst was akin to an ant throwing a tantrum at a giant and could be so completely ignored—that was the worst part of it. That it didn’t even matter to Marie. Not one bit.

Marie was there to torture her nothing else. She had taken special delight in visiting Annie to remind her of the opportunity which had taken from her. And if that’s what she wanted to do, nobody could deny her. Superwomen were above the rules and laws of mortals.

With nothing else to do, Annie watched on her own computer screen what Marie had pulled up. It was… New Super Watch Blog? Yes, AntiSuper Pennywise. Annie remembered that name. She commented frequently on Marie’s blog. So she had opened her own page and poached all of Annie’s followers.

It looked like some sort of marquee event. A livestream, even? A beautiful goddess was on screen, transforming before their very eyes!

The sinewy and strong redhead was floating into the air, her limbs filling out of powerful muscle as her breasts filled out her strappy tank top and pushed the fabric to their limits. Was that Pennywise?

Annie choked on her emotions. Had Pennywise successfully followed Marie’s steps? Denounce the supers, steal all of Marie’s devoted audience, and then transcend before their very eyes?

“I love this part,” Marie laughed as she picked up a huge stack of sliced meat and cheese in a blur and tossed it all in her mouth. “Tell me if this next part reminds you of anything…”

As the transforming beauty floated out of the way, there in the camera frame sat another fat girl looking on in horror. Rolls of fat hung over her waistline, her face smudged by wet, tear-streaked makeup.

Annie dropped the tray, which Marie caught with a quick swish of her arm.

“Is that… Pennywise?”

“Her real name is Paige. Go on,” Marie goaded.

“She… took the treatment? And it didn’t work? And this… this other girl…”

“Her name is Cindy,” Marie helped.

“Cindy took it, and…”

“Bingo.”

Cindy began to give her speech to a blubbering Paige, saying how cruelly her friend had used and mistreated her, and in the end, had tried to go against their ideals. However, unlike Marie, Paige suffered the same fate as Annie. And now, Cindy would be the one to play her role as the newest super. Powerful and unstoppable.

Annie began to sob. Why do they get to become super instead of me! It’s not fair!

“What a great show they put on! I think I’m going to text this new super and introduce myself.” Marie floated to sit cross-legged in midair. She peeked downstairs into Annie’s pantry with her glowing eyes. “Now, I know you have some of those chocolate truffles stashed away that you love so much. Darling, you have to watch what you eat! Good thing I’m here to help. Be a dear and fetch them for me, will you?”

A defeated Annie shuffled her feet as she went to fetch it. The only thing she wanted now was to be allowed to sit down and rest her weary legs.

Hours later, finally free of Marie’s torment, she received a text message from an unrecognized number…

Chapter 2

A few days after her transformation, Cindy descended at a crowded lunch cafe in downtown San Francisco. Half of the gawking rabble gasped at her graceful, controlled descent, while the other half were completely oblivious to her arrival. They were all staring at an outrageously tall, voluptuous chocolate-skinned Marie who merely stood there waiting for her lunch companion to arrive.

Reflexively, the two sized each other up in a manner of microseconds. Cindy tried to flash her x-ray vision to peer through Marie’s body, but it was no use, of course. Even as the world and its inhabitants turned translucent to her beautiful focused eyes, Marie remained completely opaque.

All Cindy could see was the statuesque woman who was only dwarfed by Alice and Kim, dressed in calf high socks, a pair of denim shorts, and a loose crop top that left none of her perfectly sculpted abdominals to the imagination. Of course, the crop top wasn’t immune to Cindy’s supernatural eyes.

Marie was, in fact, irrepressibly beautiful.

Meanwhile, Marie returned the act, scoping out the descending Cindy. A cute pair of chucks, knee length skirt that fluttered in the wind which briefly exposed Cindy’s plain white panties. Of course, upskirt peeks came effortlessly to Marie. Her emerald green eyes saw right through Cindy’s clothes, revealing a hairless, smooth, enticing female intimacy.

The redhead looked more physically built than Marie herself despite the small height discrepancy between them. The beauty of any of the superwomen was beyond any supermodel could even dream of being, but they had their own distinct beautifulness, perhaps a reflection of their own subconscious definitions of beauty and power. They wore their hair similarly, a side part that flowed down to their shoulders.

Marie approved. A worthy new friend, perhaps?

“Um, hello. Marie?” Cindy asked slightly nervously.

“Of course. Who else? Nice to meet you Cindy.”

Cindy touched down to earth. The two extended arms and clasped hands in the firmest handshake ever performed on the planet. Each one tested the other by squeezing harder and harder, eventually with enough pressure to shatter diamonds. Neither girl showed any sign of discomfort.

“Shall we?” Marie smiled.

“Let’s. Did you make a reservation? This place looks busy…”

Marie looked at Cindy in shock who, in turn, realized what she had just said. And then both burst into full-bellied laughter.

“Oh girl, you have so much to learn.” Marie turned and looked down to the maitre’d. “Excuse me, Garçon? Seat for two, please. The best you have.”

The waiter gulped as he looked up at the two towering, transcendent, unstoppable superhumans.

“Yes, my queens Follow me please…”

Chapter 3

“Enjoying yourself?” Marie asked as their waiter brought yet another loaf of bread with thick pads of butter and flaky salt. She tore into the loaf with her bare hands, tearing open the steaming loaf with a pinch and tug of her fingers.

“Oh, definitely. It’s very freeing,” Cindy dipped her portion into balsamic vinegar and olive oil. “It’s nice that so many things I used to worry about come so easy to me now. Like, my homework only takes seconds…”

“Homework!? Girl, what are you doing!? We’re super!

Cindy blushed and averted her gaze sheepishly.

“Don’t tell me you haven’t played around yet!” Marie continued in a matronly tone of voice.

“S-s-sure i have! Tons!” Cindy’s heartbeat quickened. She saw Marie’s reaction. “Ah, yeah. I know. You can hear me lying. Hell, I can hear myself lying.

“I can see it too,” Marie chuckled. “Your face is as red as your hair!”

“I just feel a little… listless. Paige ran my life, you know? I didn’t realize it at the time, but she controlled every aspect of my life. It took her betrayal for me to finally stand up on my own. But without her… even if she was bad to me, at least she seemed to give my life purpose.”

“Oh hell no,” Marie comforted the newly reborn Cindy. “I’m so glad I reached out to you. This will not do. You are no longer a weak girl. You are a living goddess! Why don’t we practice? Right here.”

“Here? What, practice my powers? It would be a massacre!” Cindy looked aghast.

“No no no! I mean, of course, if some people get hurt, that’s just an inevitability. We’re invulnerable and they’re as fragile as glass. But no, we can play in other ways.”

“What do you mean?”

The waiter came back with a tray of four bowls of French onion soup. He placed two in front of each girl.

“Excuse me, four each?” Marie asked darkly as she raised a thick eyebrow.

“Yes, yes, forgive me. Still coming! I couldn’t carry all of them at once,” he apologized profusely.

Marie rolled her eyes and focused on her enormous meal.

“Was that really necessary?” Cindy asked the super who seemed to be taking on a mentor role.

“Is anything necessary for us?” Marie tried to lead Cindy to the proper conclusion herself.

Without another comment, Marie’s eyes glowed incandescent before zapping her bowls. They immediately began to bubble and roil furiously as the ceramic turned superheated. She placed her palms right on the searing hot crockery and poured the soup right down her gullet.

“Does… does that taste good?” Cindy asked incredulously as Marie relished it loudly and wiped her lips with the back of her hand.

“Try it. You need to understand that we can do anything now.”

Cindy focused her eyes, still growing accustomed to the unbelievable power welling inside her body. Her brown eyes radiated power, less precisely as Marie’s had. Furrowing her brows, Cindy fired her lasers through and beyond her soup, nearly incinerating deep into the earth’s crust.

But Marie extended a hand at super speed into the path of Cindy’s destructive lasers and absorbed all of the impact.

Cindy gasped.

“Oh shit! Sorry!” an aghast Cindy covered her mouth as she blinked out the lasers.

“Don’t apologize. For anything,” Marie comforted gently. She licked her fingers and palm, letting the heat sizzle against her tongue. “You’re strong,” she winked at Cindy.

Cindy brought the scalding hot soup to her mouth, wincing in preparation for the blistering heat. But there was none. She drank down the hot liquid as well.

“Well?” Marie asked.

“It’s… different. Not bad or anything. Just different,” Cindy commented.

“Just like us. Experiment. Play around. There’s no limits for us anymore, besides maybe each other.”

“Like Alice,” Cindy probed.

“Yes. Have you met her?”

“Not yet.”

“You will. Alice makes sure to check on every superwoman to ensure we are properly behaving. It’s funny, she allows us to do pretty much anything we want, but conquering the world is where she draws the line.”

There was a brief lull in the conversation as Cindy dipped her finger into the scalding soup, still getting used to the implications of being super. A different waiter approached them overly eagerly on wobbly legs.

“Your soups, ladies…” he muttered nervously like an infatuated young man.

This time Cindy spoke her mind outright.

“Ugh… some people are so unsubtle,” she wrinkled her nose in disgust.

“Euuhh. I’m so sorry!” the waiter tried to apologize. “I’m just… such a… such a fan…”

His erection was growing ever larger in the presence of these two perfected superwomen. His hips were actually swaying back and forth, grinding his boner in his pants!

“Enough. Bring the other waiter back. You’ll just have to rub one out yourself in the bathroom. Here, I’ll send you on your way,” Marie spat.

She pursed her dark cherry lips and sent a gust of breath at the awestruck waiter, sending him flying away. He crashed through some empty tables while yelping in pain, but the feeling of Marie’s beautiful power wafting over him caused him to burn ever hotter. When he slammed into the bathroom door and collapsed into a heap, he gingerly crawled to his feet. One hand tried to soothe his lower back while the other rapidly began unzipping his pants. He barely made it inside before starting to masturbate in earnest. Both girls could hear it.

Meanwhile, Cindy had risen from her seat at superspeed to catch all of the food that suddenly had no servant. She placed it before them.

“That seemed awfully nice of you,” Cindy remarked. “It sounds like he’s going to have the best orgasm of his life.”

“Oh, he would… if he could ever achieve it,” Marie cackled. “But he won’t be allowed to. Only I can unlock him with my touch.”

Cindy could scarcely believe it, but a quick scan with her x-ray vision confirmed that he was throbbing and leaking, stiff as he could get. But even with his furious pumping and groaning, his body failed to respond!

“You can do that!?” Cindy gasped.

“Yes. I’ve been super a bit longer than you, so I have better mastery over my powers. We grow stronger everyday. That’s why Alice is the tippy top of the food chain.”

“Mm.”

“Oh Mr. Manager!” Marie bellowed. “I believe one of your employees is doing something inappropriate in the bathroom! Could you please check and fire him if so? And bring us back our original water. Now.

Cindy laughed openly.

Their original waiter came back with multiple plates. Large heads of iceberg lettuce, diced tomato, bleu cheese, and fresh bacon crumbles greeted the two superwomen's insatiable appetites.

“Your salads,” he retained his professionalism despite Marie’s previous tongue lashing and both women’s incredible display of power.

“Thanks Matthew,” Cindy read his nametag. “You’re a good one.”

“I… I try,” he blushed furiously.

“Oh, he’s cute!” Marie clapped cutely, making sure not to bring the whole building down. “Cindy,  Why don’t you give him a nice ‘tip’?” She gave Cindy a suggestive wink.

“W-what?!” Matthew gulped. He tried to plate their food as fast as he was able before anything untoward happened.

“C-can I?” Cindy gasped. Marie was so forward! The thought didn’t repulse her though…

“No, not can you. The question is, do you want to?”

“Matthew, do you mind?” Cindy asked. But Marie cut her off quickly.

“Don’t ask his permission! Just do what you want!” Marie barked.

Cindy stopped trying to deny her urges. She stood up at merely human speeds, letting Matthew tingle with anticipation of what was to come. Her half-lidded dark brown eyes blazed with intent as she kicked her chair backwards into splinters. Standing up tall, she turned the corner of the table and reached for Matthew’s collar, lifting him off the floor, enjoying his panicked yelping.

He held onto her slim arm for dear life as his feet dangled in midair.

“Shh, shh… you’ll like this,” Cindy blew her breath all over his face. Even though he was able to function in Cindy and Marie’s presence, the slightest application of Cindy’s sexual predation took control of his lust. His emotions calmed per Cindy’s request even as his penis began to straighten out.

“Oh yeah,” Marie moaned. “Devastate him, make him break in half with pleasure!” Her voice was husky.

Matthew watched half in horror, half in eagerness of what was about to happen. He stared right into Cindy’s hypnotic eyes. He watched as Cindy wet her lips with her thick, moist tongue. What was going to happen to him? Was she really going to make him orgasm? Could she even do it that easily?

“Mmm…” Cindy moaned as she closed her eyes and lowered her cute little victim. Their lips met, Cindy overpowering and massaging Matthew’s lips with her own superior fleshy folds.

Matthew began to moan and shudder. His first kiss with his very first crush was a piece of ancient history now. His entire being shuddered and surrendered to the lust that Cindy was forcing onto him.

In between lusty sucks of his lower lip, Cindy darted her tongue into his mouth, swatting his around and having her way with him. She flicked quickly and gently, exploring his mouth faster than he could process and withdrawing her tongue, leaving him only with the experience of lingering ecstasy everywhere she touched. Each penetration of his mouth was a detonation of ecstasy that surged through his heated, wracked body.

His control was eroding. He saw sparks before his closed eyes. He was scarcely aware that he was bucking his hips into Cindy’s firm, invulnerable body, flopping around helplessly like a ragdoll in a storm.

Cindy inserted her tongue into his mouth one more time and sealed his fate. She broke the kiss and exhaled hotly into Matthew’s face, leaving a lingering trail of saliva between their separated lips.

Matthew groaned and shuddered violently. His penis, desperate for stimulation, grinded in his pants as he soaked himself in heavenly ecstasy.

“Haha! So easy!” Cindy laughed as she held him at full arm’s length. “Keep coming, baby!”

Matthew screamed as his body obeyed Super Cindy’s order, continuing to buck and thrust. His long emptied balls ached as they continued to churn and spasm, firing dry, unproductive pulses through his still erupting member.

She dropped her favored toy onto the floor and took a seat on… well, nothing. Her chair wasn’t there anymore, but she balanced herself on one bent leg while she crossed her other one.

“You see?” Marie moaned as she openly touched herself. “You don’t need Paige. You can do whatever you want now.”

“God, that was fun. Did you enjoy it, Matthew?”

Marie was about to speak, but Cindy cut her off.

“Trick question! I don’t care if you enjoyed it!” Cindy cackled. “But I imagine you quite liked it…” Cindy gave the panicking and mesmerized man a wink, sending new torrents of pleasure rippling through his still erupting cock.

“So, you define your own purpose in life now,” Marie continued, completely ignoring Matthew’s presence. “She won’t hold you back anymore.”

“I understand, Marie. I’ll try my best. You know, I used to enjoy playing tennis, before Paige convinced me that it wasn’t a good use of my time. Would you like to play a match with me?”

“Mmm… certainly.”

“Give me a moment…” Cindy pulled out her phone and tapped out a message.

Chapter 4

The two super women changed into a short white skirt and sleeveless white tops, dressing up for the part as tennis athletes per Cindy’s request.

“You’re still not thinking big enough,” Marie spoke from across the tennis court.

“Get ready!” was Cindy’s only reply.

She tossed the tennis ball into the air, leapt up to meet it with her racket, and hit the ball so hard that it dug into the concrete before exploding into pieces of felt-covered rubber. Her racket, too, was now completely deformed, its strings broken and jagged.

“See?” Marie took the racket face in her other hand and just bent it into two broken pieces.

“Damn. I’m finally free of Paige’s toxicity, and I still can’t play tennis?”

“You are still too new to this girl. I had the same issue as you until Kim taught me a little thing called ‘tactile telekinesis’ that makes our superlife a little easier, but it’s going to take a few days until you can master that. For now, we just have to make our own version of tennis.”

“How do we do that?”

“Well, first we get a tennis ball strong enough to withstand us. At least for a little bit. And then we play!”

“How do we…” Cindy began again, but Marie shut her down with a glare.

“Come on, Cindy. Use your imagination. All this power means that the only limiting factor is your brain.”

“Hmm…”

Cindy dug her foot into the concrete floor and scooped out a chunk, tearing her shoe apart in the process. She sanded the rough edges down with her palms and threw it underhand toward Marie.

Marie swatted it back with a flick of her fingers, but what greeted Cindy was just a broken pile of fragmented rubble. The pieces bounced off of her invulnerable body. But her outfit was not as lucky. It tore into pieces where the supersonic flight of rock and debris struck it.

“Okay. Too brittle,” Cindy commented. “Sheesh, everything is so fragile.”

“Yes. Now you’re learning.”

“How about…”

Cindy flew over and outside the high fence of the tennis court. She stuck her arm into one of the floodlights for nighttime use and ripped the entire, twenty foot tall metal pole out of the ground.

Sparks flooded her body and blackened her pristine white outfit, but Cindy paid it no mind as she began to scrunch the metal pole up into a little ball, despite its shrieking protests. The metal scrunched and compacted under Cindy’s brute strength, her tight and feminine arms not flexing in even the slightest as she reshaped the tough material.

Soon, Cindy had a dense, heavy metal sphere the size of a tennis ball. She tossed it up and down, catching and counterbalancing its weight as if it didn’t weigh half a ton.

“Ready?” Cindy asked Marie through the fence.

“Waiting on you!” she chirped back approvingly.

Cindy tossed the metal lump into the air and swung a forehand into it with her open palm. It burst through the chain link fence and headed right for Marie’s face.

Marie brought her hand in front, cocked her middle finger against her thumb, and flicked it right back. A loud clang filled the air as the supersonic missile headed back on its impact course straight toward Cindy’s belly.

Cindy hopped one pace to the left and slammed her left foot into concrete to steel herself. Her dainty toes and beautiful heels pulverized the concrete as she dug in and swung a forehand, this time aiming far away from Marie.

Marie left her feet, but Cindy chided her.

“Uh uh uh! No flying! A game has to have rules!” she declared with a smirk.

Marie grinned and acquiesced to Cindy’s wishes. The ground shattered beneath her footsteps as she hit it back with another flick of her thumb.

The two girls rallied the ball back and forth before Marie let the ball strike her right in her perfect stomach. Before it could whiz deep into the Earth’s crust, she caught it with her left hand.

“Point! 15 love!” Cindy declared.

“Sure, sure,” Marie smiled. “I want to livestream this on my Watch Me Super blog. Do you mind?”

“Oh my god, I’m going to be famous!” Cindy marveled.

“Girl, you’re super. You’re already famous. It’s time to live it. Now, since you said a game has to have rules, what should serve as the boundaries to our little game? This thing…” Marie looked at the tiny official tennis court and sent her laser vision into the floor, tearing it all up as if shattered by an earthquake, “...is hardly adequate. Cindy, would you mind taking the people out of our ‘tennis court’ while I get things prepared?”

Chapter 5

Paige and Annie were on a video call, watching the events unfold on Marie’s Watch Me Super blog. An entire cityscape now lay in ruins as the catastrophe of the girls’ tennis game continued to unfold before them.

Marie apparently had direct connections to various satellite feeds and cameras set up around the outskirts of the city. The two girls swatted their metal ball through multi-story buildings, carving up urban streets with their insanely powerful footsteps, flipping cars with just the backdraft of a casual swing of their super powerful arms.

“I… I didn’t even know Marie!” Annie sobbed as she watched the metal sphere crash through another few blocks. Two female figures blurred and reappeared in a regular, rhythmic pattern. “I mean, I left comments on her blog, but that was it…”

“Better than being stabbed in the back by your best friend!” Paige scowled as another thundering clang echoed over her computer speakers. “I tried to prop Cindy up, tried to teach her some things. She was always such a quiet loser, and I was the only one who stayed by her side. And look how she treated me!!”

“We have to figure something out!” Annie wailed. “Marie has been tormenting me,, bragging nonstop about her life, and then she comes over and eats all my food, saying she’s helping me out with my diet. My… my chocolates…”

“At least Cindy has the good sense to leave me alone!” Paige uttered through gritted teeth. “If that stupid… backstabbing… Judas comes back, why, I… I’ll… I’ll show her a piece of my mind! I’ll totally, um…” her tirade fizzled out as she imagined all of her useless flailing and slapping proving ineffective. The toxic bully began to choke on her own sobs.

“We gotta… we gotta get back at them!” Annie’s voice had a hint of nagging desperation. It wasn’t just an idle comment.

“Yes! Yes, we do!” Paige agreed a little too eagerly.

“But what can we do? We… we already took the treatment! There’s no way to contract and incubate the virus now, right?”

“Right! Right right right, indeed, yes! That is correct! But… we should still meet up. Let’s figure something out!” Paige blabbered.

“Yes! We’re not that far apart! Can I go to your place? Marie torments me at my house…”

“Here you go, friend,” Paige sent a link over with her address pinned on Gurglr maps.

“Thanks, friend.”

When the livestream ended, Marie and Cindy both floated high in the air, giggling their heads off. They declared their game a tie, the city beneath them a smoldering wreck. For a finishing touch, Marie faced the surface of the earth and blasted deep into the crater with thick, white hot beams of her heat vision. Glass and concrete melted under her gaze, but she continued to scar the earth with incredible precision.

When all that was left below was smoke and glass, Cindy pursed her lips and puffed a freezing breath over the remains of the city. Carved there in beautiful calligraphy from Marie’s eyes was

Marie + Cindy
BFF

Then the two flew off. The stream ended.

As Annie and Paige hung up on each other, both scheduled yet another appointment at their respective clinics…

Chapter 6

“New Super Watch Blog now broadcasting live”

“Hi everyone. You might know me as AntiSuper Pennywise. And this is Annie, who went by Beauty…”

Annie cleared her throat loudly and made a rapid back and forth throat-slitting gesture.

“Ah, um… this is Annie, who used to comment on that traitorous Marie’s Super Watch Blog before it turned into the… well, I think we all know.”

The chat was blowing up at the broadcast, calling them fat, stupid, exploitative. Of course, there were holdouts of the old guard that still believed in them utterly despite all mounting evidence, but their core contingency had betrayed them.

“We’re here to denounce what Super Marie and Super Cindy have done to one of our fine cities! Sure, they got people out of it beforehand, but they took to it like a playground… but it was a business and residential area! Human beings worked there, lived there, hugged their children there, and now… it’s just a frozen wasteland. All because of a game!?” Paige was starting to get into it once again, channeling her old flames easily despite her new, ghastly and obese outward appearance.

“Yeah! Yeah!” Annie chimed in. “I didn’t do anything to deserve this! Marie… Marie torments me every day! She treats me like a slave and nobody believes me! All I did was give some public appearances. Does that make me some kind of villain? I’m still a human being and I deserve some respect!”

The two girls looked at each other with fierce determination. They were fully in sync now.

“Yeah! Those supers don’t get to be cruel to us just because they have all these powers! We need to keep them accountable. Let’s… let’s take down the clinics that scan for the virus, and prevent further treatments! We don’t need any more tyrants or tragic cases like me and Annie! Right, Annie?”

“Uh… um… right! Right, that’s right, Paige,” she agreed with obvious hesitation. Her voice shirked.

“What’s wrong?” Paige hissed under her breath.

“Nothing, nothing!” Annie shot back. But she was clearly hiding something.

A concerned Paige scanned the live chat, still seeing tons of derision mixed with some sympathy. She looked into the webcam once more and addressed the growing audience.

“Let’s take to the streets! Protest the clinics that brought this upon us! We should be researching the origin of the virus, and how to stop it! Not glorifying it and creating a new class of oppressors! Annie. What. Are. You. Looking at!?”

“Nothing!!” Annie quickly covered her phone with her grubby paws.

“It’s not nothing! Give. Me. That!”

The two girls struggled over Annie’s phone, wrestling for control. The chat went crazy as they lumbered about and scratched each other, grunting and groaning. Eventually, Annie’s strength gave out due to her exhaustion of being Marie’s plaything day in and day out.

“You… you got scanned for the virus again?!” Paige huffed as she read the diagnosis in Annie’s email.

“Yeah! And you know what? I took the treatment too!  ” she shrieked.

“WHAT!? It… it doesn’t work that way! Does it!?”

“Who knows! I don’t care! I can’t take this anymore! I hate being like this! I… I deserve to be super! I don’t care if it kills me!” Annie yelled loudly and proudly before the mood sobered.

“ You backstabbing bitch!” Paige shot back calmly. “So you took my treatment spot! Yes, that’s right! I re-tested positive too!”

“You… you did?”

“Yes. Yes I did! Just one day after we got together, I snuck out and got tested myself.  I tried to schedule a treatment, but everything is booked! I was going to try again tomorr…wait a minute. Annie, when did you get the treatment?”

“Two days ago,” replied a worried Annie..

“If you tested positive again…and took the treatment two days ago…” Paige calculated, coming to a terrible realization. “Then it doesn’t matter if I try to take the treatment again…once we miss the window…it’s gone…”

Annie didn’t respond at all. She just stayed in her seated position and looked completely downcast.

Meanwhile, the chat which had been booing Paige the whole time turned to laughter. Whatever sympathizers she had all turned on her in the span of a minute.

“Well, well, well,” came an all too familiar voice.

“Who said that!?” Paige whipped around.

“M-Marie…?” Annie recognized that haunting voice immediately.

The amazoness superwoman crashed through Paige’s ceiling, raining debris into the room. Paige and Annie shrieked and covered their heads, but a blinding flash of light from Cindy’s eyes, and all of the falling brick and mortar were disintegrated.

“ I was hoping to see your face when the treatment failed, Paige. But I guess Annie’s is good enough.,” Cindy commented.

“N-no… why are you here…?” Paige asked frightfully. Annie just sighed in resignation as she fell on her knees before Marie.

“Who do you think gave you the idea to meet up, hmm? To get retested?” Cindy laughed. Marie simply cackled.

“But why would you… that’s so…” Paige began to cry.

“To test your true nature. To see if you, after going back to your blog, once again denouncing us, would give another shot if the opportunity presented itself. And it’s so clear, isn’t it? You just can’t help yourself. You petty little humans, loving your pathetic lives. Always needing to step on another to get ahead.”

“That’s right, Pennywise was it? You thought that by trying to follow my footsteps, you could become super just like me. But, like Annie, you’re just a loser!  Do you really think you deserve this power? You were just a fatass copycat of me but without a single original thought. That’s why I couldn’t help but switch your test results.

“You… you switched our test results? How!?” Cried Paige.

“Becoming a superwoman has its privileges, including the right to decide if the next positive-tested girl or woman gets to become one or not. I was already informed of your test results before you. So, to see if you stood by those statements you wrote on your blog, I ordered them to be switched!” Marie giggled.

“It was meant to be me!” Paige cried as she also fell to her knees and sobbed. “You stole my powers!”

“Don’t think of it like that. Think of it more like… saving you from becoming just like me. After all, weren’t you writing some pretty nasty things about me? Didn’t want you to suffer the same fate as me. After all, someone has to take care of my former audience”

As Paige cried on the floor and threw her tantrum, Cindy approached her and kneeled by her side.

“Thanks to Marie, I got to become what you always wanted, Paige. I understand what it means to have this power. You were so cruel to me before, basically making me chase your stupid ideals that you yourself didn’t even believe in. I dropped everything, everything for you. But you know what would be even crueler? Do you, Paige?”

Paige’s lips moved, but no sound came out.

“Answer me, you dumb fatass!” Cindy barked.

“I-I-I-I I don’t know! Cindy, I’m sorry!”

“Hmph. Why should I believe your apology? You’re only sorry because you’re not me. And that’s what the cruelest part is. Having all of this amazing, infinite power. Knowing that I could have anyone I want, anywhere I want… and then to not act on it. To be able to have a tennis match with a metal ball that I formed by squashing cars in my bare hands, but instead have to walk on eggshells not to harm your stupid, selfish lives. That’s the real cruelty, isn’t it?”

Marie smiled brightly.

“Well done, my super friend.”

“Y-y-you can’t… do this to us…” Paige stammered.

“Yes she can,” Annie replied. “Yes they can.”

Marie floated over and ruffled Annie’s hair.

“At least you’re capable of learning one thing,” Marie paid her a backhanded compliment.

“And that’s the sick part. You’d be doing this to us if you had this power, wouldn’t you, Annie and Paige? All this righteous shit you’re preaching… why, I bet Marie and I would have it much worse under you than you do under us.”

“Damn right,” Marie spat.

“So go ahead, Paige. Who knows, maybe Annie’s double treatment was a fluke and you can still become super! However, they…”” Cindy rotated in midair to face the webcam, “might have something to say about it, won’t they? Good luck getting through that crowd in order to make your treatment!” Cindy laughed.

“You guys,” Marie turned to address the cameras as well. “You’re the real heroes! Who supers the supers? That’s none of your concern. But you can watch and police these backstabbing, jealous losers. That’s what you can do.”

Cindy and Marie flew off into the sky, leaving a defeated Annie and Paige to contemplate their miserable life choices.

But even as they went their separate ways, Cindy mulled over their little dual speech. Thanks to Paige, hundreds, if not thousands of girls and women would probably get tested for the virus and seek treatment. Was it Cindy’s turn to pull the strings once a new potential Super-in-the-making showed up? There was already another superwoman in Mississippi, one who had skipped testing and went straight for treatment. Would she fall in line like Marie and Cindy, or would she strike it off on her own?

The power always did seem to come at the expense of another. If another crisis arose, and Cindy and Marie would have to step on each other to climb the social ladder of supers… would either of them do it? And as far as Cindy knew, she was lowest on the totem pole. So if anyone were to suffer, it would be her.

And she would have no chance. Did she need to start scheming?

It was a chilling thought.

One of the best ones yet. Love supergirls coming into their power and dominating lesser beings.
