Chapter XIII

"Maturing"

Part 11

...Annie was absolutely right, Mrs. Swanson's brief moment of unconsciousness didn't endure, and upon hearing her mother's voice echoing from the bathroom, she hurriedly rushed to Kitty's aid...

...Mrs. Swanson stood before the mirror, her hands trembling as she took in the reflection of her altered self. Anna and Kitty, flanking her on either side and offering support by holding her arms, exchanged nervous glances, realizing that the truth was about to be laid bare.

"What the fuck has happened to me?!!" Mrs. Swanson's voice erupted with a mix of shock and anger, the expletive hanging heavily in the air like an unexpected thunderclap.

Anna, taken aback by the sudden burst of profanity from her typically strict but ever-polite mother, nervously attempted to explain, "Mommy, it's not what you think. We thought a little enhancement would help you feel better about yourself."

Mrs. Swanson, fully restored to her original identity, shot back with fiery intensity, "Enhancement? What the hell are you talking about? Injecting my face with who-knows-what? You are a dumbass!"

Kitty, attempting to diffuse the tension with a forced smile, chimed in, "We just wanted to lift your spirits, Mrs. Swanson. A little beauty treatment, that's all."

"Beauty treatment? I want my freaking old face back! Instead of caring for me, you two turn me into a plastic slut like yourselves!!" Mrs. Swanson's frustration boiled over, her words cutting through the tension like a sharp knife.

As she spoke, Mrs. Swanson's fingers tentatively traced the outline of her injected full lips, feeling the unnatural plumpness that had been imposed upon her without her knowledge. The reflection in the mirror stared back at her, a distorted image of what she once recognized as herself.

Anna, realizing the idiocy of the situation and feeling the heat of the moment, attempted an apology that lacked sincerity, "Mom, we messed up. We didn't think it would upset you this much. Please forgive us."

Mrs. Swanson, struggling to comprehend the depth of the betrayal, turned away from the mirror. "Forgive you? This goes beyond forgiveness. I trusted you, daughter."
