End of Survey

I found myself back in the room where the treasure chest was located, and I touched the statue of the goddess to look into the treasure chest from behind Mirell-san.

Mirell-san and Gina-san are retrieving the contents of the treasure chest.

...It seems like no time has passed?

After retrieving the contents of the treasure chest, Mirell-san leads us out of the dungeon. The staircase we had returned to was lit from above, but it was dark in the back.

"Has it collapsed?"

"Let's check."

All the shelves and other objects that had been the walls of the dungeon have disappeared. Apparently, when a dungeon is conquered and then disappears, it is called a collapse.

Some dungeons remain after being conquered many times, while others disappear after a single conquest, like the one we are seeing now.

Alphos-san's lantern-type magic tool illuminates a wide area. This is said to be more convenient than ordinary torches and lanterns.

After the dungeon collapsed and returned to its original state, underground seems to have been used as a warehouse. Almost everything has been moved out of the dungeon, and there is nothing in the basement.

It was a large space made of stone, and one corner was filled with earth and sand, as if the ground above it had collapsed.

Mirell-san found a hidden door in the back wall, but beyond that there was only a collapsed passageway and a small room on the opposite side. There was nothing there, of course.

"Just up here is where it collapsed as well. It looks like the basement collapsed all at once from the ground up due to old age or some other effect."

"Do we need to dig it up?"

"There's evidence of a recent collapse. It's probably useless to dig it up."

"Then just report everything. Let's take a break and check outside.

Alphos-san and company decided not to investigate the collapsed part of the building.

The investigation of the basement was finished, and the next step was to go around the outside of the building.

We decided to take a break before heading up the stairs and out. It's a little late for lunch.

Everyone took out portable foods like dried meat and biscuits from their own bags and began to eat. My portion was in my father's backpack, and he handed it to me.

The dried meat was not very tasty.

It was too salty and tough. The cookies were not inedible, but they were dry and hard. I forced myself to eat them by washing them down with water.

"Why did you prepare this?"

"I know it's Mina-chan's first adventure, so I thought something rudimentary would be good."

"I see."

"It's okay if it's just one meal. I miss this kind of food."

From the way Dad and Alphos-San nibbled on the dried meat, it seemed that there were better portable rations available.

It would be hard to eat this for days.

After lunch, we go out through the door.

There was nothing left outside but a wall nearby that showed the remains of a building.

There seemed to be no sign of a basement. The stone floor was bumpy and mossy from the rain.

"The vegetation looks similar to the forest south of the village."

"It might not be too far from the village."

Dad murmured as he gazed at the trees and grass. Mirell-san agreed, based on the position of the sun at the time of the transfer and the fact that there were few climatic changes.

The forest south of the village of Feld extends wide and close to the border of the neighboring country.

The outer perimeter was surveyed, but the interior was apparently only roughly surveyed to see if there were any dangers from demons or vegetation.

We explored the forest around the vicinity of the temple until late in the evening, but found nothing of particular interest, so we returned to the village.

After returning to the village, we decided to distribute the gold coins and magic items we had found.

Mirell-san took out the magnifying glass with which he had examined the gold coins yesterday.

It seems to be a Magic Item that could be appraised by channeling magic power into the magnifying glass.

"The ring has one STR. The rest have no ability. The magic bags were small one and large one. The sword was INT Intellect. The sword was a miss."

Mirell-san appraises one after another. So there were basic stats given to the equipment.

The Magic Item in [SeveChro] had a random number attached to it, so it was hit or miss.

Swords tend to be used by vanguards, so STR Strength or VIT Strength would be a good stat.

Although I am still not sure about the profession, if I was a magic warrior, I would be able to use INT and STR efficiently.

Magic bags were items that could store more than they appear to be. They come in a variety of shapes and capacities, and in this case both were pouches that could be attached to a belt around the waist.

"We don't need all this stuff. Why don't you use it, Mina-chan? The sword looks like it's just the right size."

"No, that's not a good idea when we haven't done much."

Dad declined as I expected him to do. Although, now that I was getting more positive about becoming an adventurer, I'd like it if they didn't need it.

"You know our rule is that the reward distribution is based on the number of people. I'll take more gold in exchange."

"Well, half-baked Magic Items are a pain in the neck to trade for cash."

"Right, the rings and magic bags can be used for living in the village. Besides, it was Mina-chan who found the lucky treasure chest."

Alphos-san and the others seemed to want to push the items onto me altogether.

"What about Mina?"

"I'd like it if I could have it, but I don't know the price, so I don't know."

Dad asked, and I answered honestly.

"The sword is a C-class Magic Item, and the effect it gives is subtle, so it's about two large gold coins."

"If you're willing to take it all away with the magic bag and ring, I'll give you about four large gold coins."

That's a lot of money considering the living expenses, but isn't a Magic Item much more expensive?

If there were dungeons all over the place, wouldn't a Magic Item be worth a lot of money just because it was a Magic Item? Or maybe I'm just paralyzed from thinking because I've got so many gold coins.

"There are 31 more gold coins. It's almost equivalent to a large gold coin, so Mina can deduct it for the equipment."

"I think we're getting too many gold coins as well."

"Mina and I did almost nothing, so less is fine."

I think we got too much for the number of people who were fighting, which was mostly Alphos-san and the others. Dad also agreed.

"As Gina said, it was Mina who found the treasure."

"And we've been shown some interesting things, as well."

"Yes, and we talked a while ago about not trying to make a difference because it's hard to decide."

I guess Alphos-san's rule was that it would be too much trouble to make a difference in terms of contribution, etc.

In the end, my father, who was more reserved, agreed and the distribution based on the number of people was decided.

I got a sword, two magic bags, a ring, and three gold coins, while Alphos-san and my father and the others got seven gold coins each.

Mirell-san told me that these gold coins were worth about one large gold coin, but it was some time later that I heard that one large gold coin would be enough to live for a month in a reasonably good inn.

As for the small items such as tableware and drop items, we were told that they had to be exchanged for cash in town, so Alphos-san and the others who had prepared our search equipment decided to exchange them for cash and spend them.

It would be a hassle to receive them later.

"Can you tell me the details of the effects it grants?"

"That's impossible. The effect is usually determined by the grade. The ring was grade D, so it's at least better than nothing."

"You can only wear one ring on your right hand and one on your left hand, and if you wear more than one, the magic power of the granting effect will fight with each other and cancel each other out."

I wanted to know the numerical value of the weapon, but Mirell-san told me it was impossible. Certainly, the range of values granted was supposed to be fixed, but I think there was a discrepancy.

Gina-san, who must have thought I didn't know about Magic Items because I was not (yet) an adventurer, supplemented the information.

Mom cooked dinner for Alphos-san and the others, and they went back to the village chief's house after eating dinner.

Tomorrow, the four of them, including my father, were going to explore the forest. I declined the offer because I did not think I could be of any help in the forest search.

My father gave me permission to use the sword he gave me for practice as long as there were no other people around, so tomorrow I would like to try some practice.

...If I'm going to work as an adventurer, I'm going to need someone who can use the Thief skills to help me with my travels.

It would be easier if I could get it myself, but I doubt I could.
