Chapter 12 The Sleeping Saint and the Resurrection of the Tyrant Dragon

After collapsing from lack of magic, Mari was taken to the guest room of the Misery Castle, but she had not regained consciousness by that night.

"How is Saint-sama?"

Christie called out, and Sarah turned around, shaking her twin-tails.

"She hasn't woken up yet."

"I don't think it's important that she's just out of magic, but the amount of magic she used is enormous. Please be careful of any change in her condition."

"Yes" Sarah replied and looked at Mari.

Her dark hair was lustrous and her skin was translucent white. She was beautiful, but more than that, she had an air of mystery about her, as if she was really from another world. There was such a mysterious atmosphere about her.

"Christie-sama."

"What, Sarah?"

"I was taught that Saint-sama's divine magic was huge, but the magic I actually saw with my own eyes was far beyond that."

"I was also amazed to see a divine magic warding that covered the entire Misery Citadel, instantly destroying the skeleton army and bringing back tens of thousands of dead people. This is no longer the work of men, is it?"

"Could this be the person that God used?"

Sarah muttered quietly.

"But for what...?"

Having heard that much, Christie knew what she was getting at.

"Are you scared?"

"Yes, I'm scared."

Sarah stiffened her still small body.

"If Saint-sama's coming is to calm the tyrant dragon, then it means that the tyrant dragon will appear in the near future!"

"That hasn't been decided yet."

"But..."

"Even if that's the case, Saint-sama has already descended this time. Let us believe in Him."

"Yes, we do. I'm sorry, I'm so upset."

Christie went to Sarah's side and gently hugged her trembling shoulders.

"Besides, I think you may have come for something else."

"Something else?"

"There's probably a lot of monster fighting going on right now. Maybe he's here to help you hunt."

Chris smiled and Sarah laughed, "Maybe so.

As they were talking, a guard announced the arrival of a visitor.

"How is Mari?"

It was Sophie who came into the dignitary's room. As soon as she entered the room, she noticed Christie.

"Hi Chris, you're here too, it's been a while."

"Really, it's been years since I've seen Sophie."

"It's been about two years since Chris became a Hime-Miko-sama."

The two of them had been close when Sophie was a knight's apprentice and Christie was a high priestess.

"Oh, by the way, I knew that Saint-sama's knight was Sophie. I saw you fight, and I assumed you were."

" I was looking, you know. The Commander Cloyde laughed at me for looking like a rabid dog.  I wouldn't have wanted Chris to see me like that."

"Yeah? You looked great."

"Christie-sama... what about you?"

Sarah was intrigued by Sophie's friendly way of referring to the princess miko as Chris.

"Oh, yes. I'll be sure to introduce you properly."

Chris introduced them to each other.

"I'm Sarah Harth by the way."

"I'm Sophia Stanbul."

"Are you Sophia of the Third Order, by any chance?"

"Formerly...yes. Did you know me?

Well, yes... you're a well-known name among young priests."

"I have an inkling of how famous you are, though."

Sophie chuckled.

"Hey, are you here to guard Saint-sama?"

"That's part of it, but I wanted to give you this."

Sophie pulled out a small cloth bag from the bag attached to her belt.

"What is it? That."

"It's my reward for hunting. Mari and I were hunting together yesterday."

They both burst out laughing when they heard that!

"What's wrong? Did I say something funny?"

"I was talking to Sarah, and she said that Saint-sama might have come to this world to hunt."

"Looks like it. She said she was going to become an adventurer and make her name known all over the continent."

They laughed hysterically, including Sarah, who was laughing with tears in her eyes.

◇◇◇

When Sophie and Chris were reunited, Marquis Vines was being briefed by Glen in the Prime Minister's office.

"There was almost no damage, Your Excellency. If anything, the shockwave from the bursting magic unleashed by the young sorcerer caused some damage to the downtown area. Also, there was a lot of blood staining the floor and rugs."

"It's hard to believe that's all the damage after such a tragedy."

"It was only skeletons that attacked us, so we were lucky it didn't set us on fire."

"And the human casualties?"

"As you've probably noticed by now, thanks to Saint-sama's magic, no one was killed or injured. There are probably tens of thousands who have experienced death."

"So I'm one of them."

The Prime Minister laughed helplessly.

"I guess this confirms Saint-sama's descent."

"There is no doubt about it. If it's just a matter of reviving one dead person, but if it's this huge, there's no way to deny it."

Glen continued his report.

"Next, let's talk about the skeletons that attacked us. We found a large number of holes inside and outside the citadel. It seems that the skeleton emerged from these holes."

"You mean the skeleton had been buried?"

"That would be a reasonable assumption. It was probably buried in the ground for quite some time."

"Do we have any idea who did this?"

"Nothing yet. It's up to us to investigate."

"Then we'll ask the Adventurer's Guild to investigate."

"I'll take care of it, sir. However, since we're dealing with undead, it'll take some time to find the right people to deal with them."

"Right, I'll send some priests from the temple who can do rough stuff."

"Priests against the undead?"

You know them well enough to keep them secret from the public."

"Actually, these women saved my life."

Reminded of the crisis during the day, Glen was aware of the cold sweat running down his back.

"Now, Saint-sama's descent and the skeleton attack. Can you tell me what the Adventurer's Guild Master thinks?"

"If you don't mind me guessing."

He continued to speak.

"I think that both of them are related to the violent dragon. The undead are plotting to revive the dragon, and Saint-sama, sensing the danger, may have come down."

"Hmm, I have the same idea. If that's the case, it all makes sense."

The Prime Minister crossed his arms for a moment, thinking.

"I guess we'll have to ask Saint-sama for more details. We don't want to make unnecessary speculations and spread strange rumors. The people are celebrating his advent."

Opening the window, the cheers of the city echoed through the room.

"Well, thank you for your efforts for now, and I hope you can get some rest tonight."

"I'd love to, but I'm afraid I have one more job to do."

With that, Glen left the office.
