Yesterday we found a wild duckling all alone wandering the streets of our town. We waited for awhile to see if mom would come back and listened for the sound of other ducks or ducklings but we couldn't find any. Afraid he would slip down a storm drain, get hit by a car, or eaten by a cat we decided to take him home. My family has raised ducklings in the past (domestic ones) so we already had all the materials needed to give him a cozy little home (we have since moved him out of the paper bag we put him in when we found him). Here is a picture of the little guy or girl. They are still a little nervous but they made it through the first night and have been eating and drinking just fine. Felt like an event out of one of my stories (who knows might provide inspiration for a future one) so I wanted to share. 🦆☺️ I'll keep you updated on our little feathered friend.

Wonder why it was abandoned

Not sure, he was in a very strange spot for a baby duck or for a mom duck to take her babies. We had some storms in our area the last few days so he might have gotten lost in the storm and wandered too far from his normal spot.
