At this point it feels like you just wanna nitpick random shit lmao 🤣🤣 ofcourse the book contains intel on the only akatsuki we have seen beacuse thats the ONLY akatsuki members the konoha ninjas has fought ? wouldnt make sense if they had other akatsuki members on there explaining their powers and so on if they never even seen them. So it makes perfect sense that they are the only ones on the book thus far ....

Izumo and Kotetsu aren’t useless, they serve a purpose. That purpose being to protect Shikamaru. To answer all your questions, here it goes: Why didn’t they retreat? Asuma explained this. They’ll just be followed and dragged into a fight regardless since Asuma is the primary target. A fight is happening whether they want to fight or not. Why didn’t Izumo and Kotetsu retreat since they’re useless? Becuz then it’d only be Shikamaru and Asuma against two Akatsuki. Shikamaru would have no protection and thus wouldn’t be able to properly back up Asuma. They die. Why didn’t Izumo and Kotetsu throw some shuriken? They did, it didn’t work. And even if they didn’t, their primary objective is to protect Shikamaru, not engage with the enemy as they were specifically told. Why didn’t Izumo and Kotetsu back up Asuma since Kakuzu clearly wasn’t in the fight? Similar answer as above. Like Shikamaru said, there’s no guarantee that Kakuzu will stay out the fight. If they go help Asuma, Shikamaru is then left exposed. He can easily be killed by Kakuzu at that point. And I’d argue that if that DID happen, you’d call Shikamaru stupid for trusting that Kakuzu would keep his word. I really don’t understand the issue you have with this scenario Jody…?

Your first explanation is already wrecked! I dont buy it. Asuma said if they ALL turn and run away that would happen. Not if those two whack ninjas ran away alone. It doesn't make sense.
