Proofreading note: In the Shrine Builder, on line 11 in the status column, it should probably be "disdained."

Awesome work Ben. Missed it before but the “X-in-6 check” is genius

On Equipment, did you intend to give 4 items if 1 was rolled on the d20?

Anonymous

if you roll a 1 on the d20 and a 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, & 9-0 .... You get 4 items from each column

Just looked all the way down and if you roll a 20 on the d20 you get two items. So roll a 1 you get 4 items, roll a 2-19 you get 3 items and roll a 20 you get 2 items. Was that intentional or maybe the d20 roll numbers need to be shifted up one?

questingbeast

Sorry, I'm still not following. Each backround only has three items that correspond to it. For example if the two backgrounds that you rolled were and Acolyte and Charlatan, that would give you Candlestick, Censer and Incense for the Acolyte and Costume, Fake Jewels and forged docs for the Charlatan.

ohhhh so the d20 rolls are centered to the items, so for a roll of 1 on d20 & 1-2 column, it would be Candlestick, Censer & Incense? Maybe draw a line to separate the d20 rolls, just a suggestion

questingbeast

Each of the three-item packages are separate from the next by alternating bands of grey and white. Is it not visible to you? I downloaded the file again to check and it was visible for me.

Oh now looking at the PDF it does looks separated nicely but when I printed it it didn’t do that probably something with my printer

Have you considered changing ranged attacks to Dexterity and initiative to Wisdom? I think that dexterity could use some mechanical impact and using wisdom for ranged is really unintuitive for most players in my experience. Otherwise good work!

questingbeast

Dexterity helps with stealth and with dodging effects, things that come up a lot and will save your life!

Anonymous

Yes obviously, but it would be logical to have more direct game mechanic tied to it similarly to other abilities. And I still find it awkward to use Wisdom for ranged attacks even though I understand your reasoning behind it. I hope you consider it, because even though it's a small thing, it's something all my players have noted and find extremely unintuitive.

Proofreading: Cobbler appears twice on the careers table. Suggestion: cooper, barber, vintner, tinker, or tanner

Idea for Resting... instead of doubling d6s when in a safe haven, how about: In excellent conditions such as a settlement or safe haven, reroll 1s. In very poor conditions, reroll 6s. maybe this encourages players to search for good campsites.

Just wanted to say that this looks awesome, so many useful and inspiring procedures and tables. I really enjoyed Knave and I recently discovered that you were working on the second edition. Really looking forward to this.

This is great so far. I can't wait to see the spells, relics, and more. Loving the dungeon and building creation costs, same with fashion. I'd love to see what roll under and player facing rolls would look like in this system! Can we also add some carousing guidelines? Will you add some comments about your latest video about timekeeping in Old School DND? I'd love to see some procedures around that.

Hi Ben! Loving the second edition so far, are there any plans on a print run for Knave 2?

I also had this problem the first time I read it.. but after a while I came to think of "Wisdom" as "Perception" or "Awareness" and it made more sense to me.

So I just subscribed to get a look at this and it's pretty good. I like the new ability score methodology. Also, minor point but on page 4 you identify "picking locks" as a use of Dexterity and on page 7 you carry on the tradition of making lock picking INT based. Which is correct?
