I recently realized that I didn't have any videos explaining what the OSR was on my channel, so I decided to rectify that. It should be a good starting point to send people who are curious about it.

Sorry that I'm a bit behind on my shout-outs! Liam Dyer, Amanda Rader, and Scott Malthouse are getting shout-outs on the next review video!

Contact me using the email address found in this channel's About tab. I only review physical copies of books, not PDFs. I am mostly interested in books from the Old-School RPG scene that stand out in terms of writing quality, mechanics, art, layout, and production values. I generally only review books that I'm impressed by, so I cannot guarantee that I will review everything I am sent. Thumbnail art by Peter Mullen, from the Old School Essentials DM's Screen

I've never gotten a shout-out in a video before 😯🤭 Thank *you*, Ben, for being an awesome creator! 😁

I just got here and I’m really liking the implications of the combat feat system. Tying fictional and tactical effects to the battle that don’t rely on class powers or whatever is great. It sort of reminds me of the DCC deed die, except it’s readily available to everyone. I think the way I’d run it is to make combat feats happen directly from a players explanation of what their character does. So they don’t choose after rolling a 7 what their character is actually doing, they have to include that in their original intent. I have a rough time trying to get my players to describe what they actually do without dangling a mechanical benefit in front of their faces.
