G+ is on its way out, so it's time to fire up the old blog. I've been thinking recently about how I define the kinds of games I like to play, and the dubious usefulness of the term "OSR" now that we're in the post-retroclone era.

Leave a comment over on the blog post if you feel so inclined! I think it's a good idea to start fostering the blog-comment-culture that used to be so big before social media.

Adventure Game vs OSR - Questing Beast

Here's a bit of an epiphany I had today. If I had to sum up the kinds of games I like to play in a single term, the term I'd like best wouldn't be Old-School Renaissance, or Dungeons & Dragons, or DIY RPG, or even roleplaying game, but "Adventure Game."

Away from computer now but will comment later. Totally agree. “Adventure” is the key part (and different than say JRPG culture or CRPG computer game culture or World of Warcraft culture). Adventure is a key part of OSR

Definitely "adventure game" and "theatre of the mind"!
