Finally!

After a year and a half of development, the new character sheets for Pathfinder Second Edition have reached a state I'm ready to call "Alpha". That means:

  • They're ready to play now. No need to wait any longer.
  • I want your feedback. Find me things to fix.

This will be the final patrons-only release - the next step will be a public beta.

Previews

Patrons get to build any character they like on the dev site (look for the other post for your login link), but for everyone else, here are previews of the twelve classes, and specifically the twelve pregen characters you can get from Paizo.

Hopefully you can some of these try these out at PaizoCon Online - which starts on Tuesday!

I've also updated the NPM package: https://www.npmjs.com/package/dyslexic-charactersheets

Pathfinders do not all possess a Wayfinder (but all PFS characters are granted access to Pathfinder Society options). In PFS, it is a boon you can purchase (all reputation tier 1 for 2 fame iirc). In home games, it is just an Uncommon item you can buy (unless your GM says otherwise).

The sheet does not appear to allow separating PFS training points among scrolls/spells/swords. Reputation needs to be tracked per faction as you can earn reputation with a faction (occasionally) without having the faction champion boon slotted and it is possible to switch faction champion boons between adventures.

It is not always 3 archetype feats before you can take another. Additionally some archetypes count feats from other archetypes and/or allow switching to it before taking X archetype feats (and level 9 human feat allows taking an archetype even if you haven't met the X feats requirement). Assurance isn't "take 10" - it is take 10 and add ONLY your proficiency bonus (no other bonuses and no penalties).

I'll need to add a page for PFS / organised play long term. The page that's there is only for building a new PFS-legal character. So it can be simpler, and not even try to keep track of things like reputation that you earn through playing. A lot of these PFS rules are really hard to make sense of, because they're not printed in a book, they're on some random web page. All the more reason for me to try to make it easy for people

Is toggling the proficiency indicators in HTML not possible, not implemented yet, or broken on my sheet?

A few more I noticed after becoming a backer: * Not enough room for the character number in the PFS # field. * Missing some action traits on the Reference page (Open, Press, and Fortune at least) * Since there's room, it might be worth adding other weapon traits. * Dying does not allow for things like Die Hard (where you don't die at Dying 4) * On the page that has Ancestry info, I would suggest changing "[Ancestry]" to "[Ancestry] Ancestry" * General feats section also needs a header - both to make it clear what it is and to align it with ancestry feats * Similarly, it would be good to add a Skill Feats header to that section * On the full page inventory, since there's a blank in the middle, what about adding a "bag of holding" section? * It only includes CRB items in the choices. Will the options (at least heritages and backgrounds) from other books be added later?

Based on a comment on another post (backer-only?), it is currently not implemented. The focus is on print sheets but he is planning to look at implementing that functionality after public release.

dyslexic_charactersheets

Like Stephen said, all the interactive stuff is being shelved until after the first release. I don't want to sit on these any longer than I have to, so I'm focusing on print for now, and leaving other stuff till later.

dyslexic_charactersheets

The actions and traits on the reference page are selected depending on the class you pick - there's no way I could include every possible detail, without it being 640 pages big.

dyslexic_charactersheets

I will be adding options from other books, but I want to finish the CRB and get it out there first. Otherwise this could be a work in progress forever as I try to play catch-up to Paizo.

dyslexic_charactersheets

Each of the archetypes in the book has 3 as its number (in the "Special" section of the dedication feat), but since it's listed each time I guess future archetypes could have a different number. Are you aware of any published archetypes that have a different number?

Anonymous

I was suggesting Open, Press, and Fortune as most classes (probably not all) have feats with those traits.

Anonymous

Yes. A couple of archetypes in Lost Omens (World and/or Character) Guide are 4 feats (dedication + 3 others).

dyslexic_charactersheets

I've reviewed all the classes, class feats and focus spells, and added a few more action traits to specific classes. But it's not a complete list, or the same for everybody, because that's just not helpful.

I've updated the preview files linked above, based on all your feedback. I'd appreciate people taking another look.

I've been out of the hobby for a few months AND oh wow do these sheets look great! You are doing something amazing Marcus. When I was last using the PF2 sheets I made a few functions to add a personal convenience to the HTML sheets; one to save all the filled inputs as values so that I could save everything, another to add all the stat bonuses to any input box labeled with a stat, another to add all the proficiency bonuses and update them when the character levels. But I am a complete amateur and lost all of them... I could figure out how to re-make them all, but as I said I'm a complete amateur and am not looking forward to that. So, has anyone else in the community made something similar?

So, lessons learnt: The chrome console keeps it's memory as long as you are not using it! I was able to recover all my old tools. Now for the task to ensure they work for the current sheets!

dyslexic_charactersheets

Thank you! I am planning to make it save data, and calculate values for you, but that's something to tackle after the first release.

Yep, I totally understand how it doesn't make sense to do that until the shape and format is finalized.
