Applejack would never allow her family's barn to go under, no matter what. The place was her home, her family's home, no matter how much work it needs, she'd always make sure it had all the help it needed to get through the hard time. Thus, she decided to get more help around.

Perhaps the quickest solution would have been to hire others to work for them, but that was only a temporary solution - Applejack needed dedicated workers, loyal workers, ponies who'd be completely dedicated to the farm!

No one in her family was sure how it happened but one day she just announced she was expecting the next apple generation and they all got to work on expanding their home, preparing for the arrival of their new working hooves and all the other ones that were sure to come. The farm does need all the help it could get after all!
