“Yeah and this is not helping, (gasp) what I want is your support.” She looked up at me and gave me a pleading look. “You want me to be like (gasp, pant) that stupid bitch Amber all gross and sweaty all the time?” She placed a cigarette in her mouth and lit it.

“No I don’t want you to be like her, you know that,” I said. She glared at me then sighed. She wanted my support, what did that mean? Was I really acting like Brian? That was the last thing I wanted to do. I actually liked her the way she was anyway, she was the one who got all worked up about wanting to lose weight, wasn’t I just trying to help her? I was supporting her.

She blew smoke into my face. “I miss (cough) how we were when we first met.”

“You were still married.” I waved the smoke away and walked around the sofa and sat next to her, still a bit confused as to what she wanted.
