The Legend of Animelee - April Update (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone! Just wanted to give a quick update on how things are going and what's coming next.
Since the core Animelee project got wrapped up a few months back (making a 1:1 of Melee in cell-shaded style), I've been focused on making smaller skin packs from community favourite games, shows and of course, anime's.
-
The last one was DBZ, and although I knocked out quite a few characters and stages, I know that people want to see more, especially Great Ape DK, Frieza Mewtwo and more.
Rest assured, I am planning on looping back at some point!

At the moment, I'm working my way through Legend of Zelda skins, with a primary focus on Ocarina of Time, which is my personal favourite. You can expect a few more stages including Fairy Fountain (FoD), Dodongo's Cave (FD) and potentially Ganon's Tower (PS) and/or Temple of Time (BF) and/or Zora's Domain (YS).
I'll also be working on bringing Navi over to Young Link as well as Tatl, and re-releasing Iron Boots and Hover Boots versions of Adult Link with Navi.
-
Next up, I'm hoping to do a Paper Mario series of stages, and potentially some skins (although that will be harder given they are all sprites).
I'm really, really excited to start on these stages once I'm done with this round of Zelda skins!

This also leads me to a question that I have for all of you, namely: Do you know what m-ex is, and do you use it?
There are many, many things that are only possible on m-ex which are all still Slippi compatible and competitive-friendly, that I just can't do on vanilla Melee.
Knowing how many of you have made the leap or are willing to will help me decide how far I want to raise the bar in terms of mods, while still keeping it focused on what people really want to use - not just what is cool.
Let me know in the poll!

Lastly, are there any other franchises or games that you'd like to see represented?
I have a number of ideas for what I'd like to do, including Ghibli skins, 90's X-Men skins, Teenage Ninja Turtles skins, Thundercats skins, He-Man skins and maybe even Transformers mechs.
My goal has always been to do crossovers with things that were popular around the time that Melee came out, since those have the same "feel" and nostalgia that Melee itself has.
I'd love to hear your ideas, although I can't promise I'll deliver on each one - there's only so much time in the day!

As always, thanks for supporting Animelee and #freemelee
