Hi everyone!  Just wanted to give a quick update on how things are going and what's coming next.

Since the core Animelee project got wrapped up a few months back (making a 1:1 of Melee in cell-shaded style), I've been focused on making smaller skin packs from community favourite games, shows and of course, anime's.

-

The last one was DBZ, and although I knocked out quite a few characters and stages, I know that people want to see more, especially Great Ape DK, Frieza Mewtwo and more.

Rest assured, I am planning on looping back at some point!

-

At the moment, I'm working my way through Legend of Zelda skins, with a primary focus on Ocarina of Time, which is my personal favourite. You can expect a few more stages including Fairy Fountain (FoD), Dodongo's Cave (FD) and potentially Ganon's Tower (PS) and/or Temple of Time (BF) and/or Zora's Domain (YS).

I'll also be working on bringing Navi over to Young Link as well as Tatl, and re-releasing Iron Boots and Hover Boots versions of Adult Link with Navi.

-

Next up, I'm hoping to do a Paper Mario series of stages, and potentially some skins (although that will be harder given they are all sprites).

I'm really, really excited to start on these stages once I'm done with this round of Zelda skins!

This also leads me to a question that I have for all of you, namely:  Do you know what m-ex is, and do you use it?

There are many, many things that are only possible on m-ex which are all still Slippi compatible and competitive-friendly, that I just can't do on vanilla Melee.

Knowing how many of you have made the leap or are willing to will help me decide how far I want to raise the bar in terms of mods, while still keeping it focused on what people really want to use - not just what is cool.

Let me know in the poll!

-

Lastly, are there any other franchises or games that you'd like to see represented?

I have a number of ideas for what I'd like to do, including Ghibli skins, 90's X-Men skins, Teenage Ninja Turtles skins, Thundercats skins, He-Man skins and maybe even Transformers mechs.

My goal has always been to do crossovers with things that were popular around the time that Melee came out, since those have the same "feel" and nostalgia that Melee itself has.

I'd love to hear your ideas, although I can't promise I'll deliver on each one - there's only so much time in the day!

-

As always, thanks for supporting Animelee and #freemelee

Those Ocarina of Time stages sound INCREDIBLE! And it should go without saying from me, but m-ex all the way, man. Only risk is if Slippi goes a direction that makes m-ex wholly incompatible with it.

I use M-EX and I'm grateful for all the community skins that come out. One issue I run into a lot are no CSP files. I'm very grateful when skins come with them. Though it does bother me when the pose is different or "off". I found a guide to make my own with select characters, but there are limitations. A guide for CSP creation would be nice. Also Godzilla stuff would be sick.

Slippi has definitely thrown us off a couple of times but now that it's incorporated m-ex into it's stack I hope chances are good compatibility will hold out

I totally hear you on CSPs and stock icons as well. Unfortunately Animelee CSPs are made in Blender and are a whole other process to modding which is pretty time intensive to set up. I'm committed to keeping a steady flow of content coming which is why I've decided that going CSP-less was the better choice. With that being said, I will be releasing my Blender files for CE sometime next month which should help give insight into how it works.

I greatly prefer using DTW but I have used M-EX several times before and found it to be pretty straightforward. For more complex skins, I'm down to try anything.

I would love to see MMPR skins! Was always fun to see someone with the green ranger over falcon skin back in the day :) would fit right in with TMNT and Transformers

I've always wanted see Yusuke (Yu Yu Hakusho) Fox in the Animelee style. It would be cool to have a sun glasses version too since he wore shades that one episode.

i use m-ex but sometimes the skins I add crashes the game, or sends dolphins errors. Would like to see a tutorial on how to correctly add skins, and why some skins has to replace certain skins.
