Animelee - Progress 08 (Patreon)

Hi everyone!

Another huge month for the project - we broke 820 Patrons at the peak of last month, and broke 5,000 followers on Twitter. Thank you so much for your support - I’ve got lots to share today.

First off, Animelee TE will release this month, on October 15th.

It will include:

- The complete roster of Melee’s characters (including all of Kirby’s alts)

- Vectorized textures for all eyes, ears, mouths, etc

- Labeled and easy to work with palette textures for every character and alt (making recolours easier than ever before)

- Improved console compatibility (we are shooting for perfect console compatibility though)

- Misc improvements across the board, fixing up any little mistakes the community has found/pointed out

This will represent the full conversion of Melee to a cell shaded aesthetic! It’s been almost a full year of work to get to this point, and there’s only two weeks to go.

So what’s next after that?

As many of you have noticed, I’ve made a discord server for this project. It’s open to everyone to join, but Patrons have a privileged role and access to channels that regular users don’t.

My plan is to post there more regularly about updates, in-progress posts and generally just having more of a back and forth between you and me.

I made a poll a little while ago in the server asking what you would like to see me work on after TE is done.

The most popular option was adding to the stages that Animelee has to offer, so that’s what I’ll be working on next. I’m really excited to try weather and other atmospheric effects with stages, to make them feel more like immersive locations.

Finally, there’s been a lot of demand to finish out the DBZ pack, so I’ll be dropping new skins alongside the stage releases.

I’m really excited to move on to fully customized skins now that we’re almost done remastering the vanilla game.
