Hi everyone - long time no chat!

With the base roster of vanilla characters almost complete (...looking at you Kirby), it's time to start announcing my plans for Animelee TE.

Animelee Tournament Edition will be the full, complete remaster of Melee, with all of the characters and stages I've made so far, in a single downloadable pack.

I am working with my team to get this done for sometime next month, and will be posting updated versions of all of the characters as we go. (Keep an eye out for Fox and Falco later today).

I will go in to more detail on each updated character's post - but some of the upgrades will include:

- Fully cell shaded textures (eyes, mouths, etc.)
- Fixing visual bugs and cleaning up the models
- Optimizing file size and other inefficiencies

I'm also excited to announce that I will be setting up the models in a new way, which will allow texture modders to put their own graphics on select areas of Animelee characters, such as the back of Fox and Falco's jackets.

Excited to see what you come up with!

---

After Animelee TE is finished, I plan to continue releasing custom character skins, such as finishing the DBZ crossover pack and a few other anime-inspired skins I have had to put off for the time being.

I will also start moving into using Uncle Punch's M-EX modding tool, which will allow me to do all kinds of things that just aren't currently possible.

This includes stuff like giving characters extra bones/joints so they can have working capes, long hair, antennas, whatever you can imagine - while still remaining 100% Slippi compatible and without causing desyncs.

---

Thanks again for your support of Animelee!

This project is only possible because of your support.

Cannot wait. You're literally making history with all this.

M-EX allows you to make all kinds of changes, which can include non-Slippi safe stuff, such as Akaneia

Ah so I framed M-EX wrong in my head. That’s really cool. So we could see rlly unique skins and variants with it’s potential?

Does that mean we will be required to use M-ex tool in the future? Will DTW still be of use? And can DTW be used on an iso that's been edited with m-ex?

Primal

I will be transitioning to using m-ex ISOs in the future because of the possibilities it opens up, which will require the use of m-exTool for you to modify them. However, the upcoming Animelee TE release will not use m-ex for maximum compatibility, after which I will make the switch. And yes, DTW is currently not capable of editing m-ex ISOs.
