Enjoy this patron-only release of Animelee Yoshi!

**FIXED EFCODATA to have correct colours**

A bit of a shuffle on releases thanks to Amsa's inspiring run this weekend. Ganon and Samus are scheduled for release this month as well.

Yoshi's model was really simple to convert to cell shading, but his textures are distributed across multiple files which were a challenge to locate. The character files work as usual, but the eggs/effects require a bit more work, both for me and you!

Unfortunately Melee uses one set of textures for all the Yoshi's eggs, which are stored in both the Yoshi's shared textures .dat (the one in the Yoshi character folder) and in the characters General Effects file (stored in the folder named Ef_Data.dat near the top of the list in HSDraw)

This limitation means you'll only be able to have the egg projectiles/shield/grab match the colour of one Yoshi. For the promo video I made, I had to swap the texture each time I filmed Yoshi in a different colour, but it was worth it for the video.

just kinda curious what textures got changed in the EfCoData

The only colors that don’t change across all my skins are the egg throw and egg lay. My shield and egg roll adapt to whichever color I’ve chosen. I use the neutral/green eggs for now but Ill probably change those when a yoshi main enters my circle according to their preferences.

Yoshi's shield and egg rollout use the same model, which is part of the Yoshi character model. It's a nice touch that lets you get away with most of Yoshi's moveset

It works well. Having green yoshi eggs doesn’t look too out of place for a colored yoshi. Its nice for the textures that DO adapt color, which conveniently so happen to be moves which involve yoshi going inside the egg himself.

When Yoshi's shield egg "pops" upon release, it is always pink regardless of skin used. Everything else shows as expected. Does the same happen for everyone else?

You'll need to swap the EfCoData file to whichever colour you want - unfortunately the way Melee is set up all Yoshi's will share the colour you pick

Hello, I just checked it and it looks like EfCoData files got messed up. All of those files make yoshi's shield release pink, except for RED file, which actually makes it yellow. *Edit: I doublechecked it with datwizard: EfCoData-ANIMELEE-AQUA - pink EfCoData-ANIMELEE-BLUE - pink EfCoData-ANIMELEE-NEUTRAL - pink EfCoData-ANIMELEE-PINK - pink EfCoData-ANIMELEE-RED - yellow EfCoData-ANIMELEE-YELLOW - pink

Is the first two rows Yoshi himself? Second two rows the egg shells? I see the last row is effect colors. Also unsure where to put the effect color data file... actually over all extremely confusing where I put anything but the character skins.

The files that start with "PlYs-Animelee" are shared between all Yoshi's, whereas the ones that have a colour like "PlYsRe-Animelee" are the individual Yoshi colour costumes. The "EfCoData" files replace the Effects file which all the characters in the game share, and is stored in the "Character Graphical Effects" folder in your ISO (visible when you first load an ISO into DTW)

I tried using the EfCoData files and I got a crash when I picked yoshi. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this. I switched back to the regular PIYs file and it worked but of course the shield pop and eggs are different color

Hey James - that's really strange! The EfCoData files only have texture replacements. You could try exporting the changed textures (it's really obvious since they're a Yoshi egg texture) and putting it into a vanilla EfCoData file to see if that does the trick!
