My mom and I checked out some BTS behind the scenes footage at the American Music Awards in 2021.  There are a zillion videos I could show her, but I thought it would be cool for her to get a glimpse of them behind the scenes practicing, chatting with each other and gettin' some candid camera time.

Quite a few of the members actually play intstruments :) Yoongi plays the piano and guitar very well, but the piano is obviously the instrument he's best at since he has been playing the piano since he was a child, Jin plays the guitar well and he also plays some piano, Jungkook plays a bit of guitar as well as some drums, Jimin has practiced both guitar and piano and I think Namjoon also plays some piano (at least enough to use it when he's producing), Tae as you mentioned plays some saxophone but he also practiced the violin at some point

About bts' charity work, they do a LOT of it :) Although bts members almost always donate anonymously, their donations do get revealed often by media publications if they uncover the details or by the charities themselves thanking them, sometimes we only know of their donations years after they happened and sometimes weeks after. Sometimes we only know that they've been donating to certain foundations after they become honorary members because of how much they've donated. Their only public donations have been their Love Myself Campaign they did with UNICEF in 2017 (which is still ongoing and you can still donate to it) and stuff like that, where they had several fundraising initiatives, like giving a % of the Love Myself series' album sales revenue to the charity, 100% of their merch proceeds etc. The members donate to a lot of different causes, but some members also support different things more than others, like Jimin very often donates to schools and creates scholarships, while Hobi is big on donating for animals etc. Jimin's dad also often donates to a lot of schools in Jimin's name. They also don't only donate, but bts have also been there in person several times. For example in 2014/2015 bts came to support families of the victims in the Seoul ferry tragedy, one of the victim's family member revealed in 2020 (after it was safe to do so) that the members came to comfort the families and donate to them in secret and tried to help them.

Hi Max! I don't remember if you watched the documentary about BTS and Coldplay... I recommend it! I think your mom would really like it too. You will learn from it how their cooperation began, how they worked on the song together (Martin specially flew to Korea during Covid). Since then, the great friendship between BTS and Colplay has continued. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viM_c-Fc7sc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUWUhWt12V0 When it comes to instruments: Jin plays the guitar and a little bit of the piano, Suga has been playing the piano since childhood (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyHaRCMbx6A), he plays the guitar well (which was visible at his concerts) and probably a little on drums, V - saxophone, a little trumpet and violin, RM recently showed his piano playing skills on Instagram (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kP1QV9TNU5g), Jimin plays a little piano and guitar , JK plays a little guitar and is learning to play drums (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKXvtXVkxMQ). I don't know anything about J-Hope's skills. When it comes to BTS and ARMY's charitable activities. As a group, BTS often made donations to various causes (including $1 million to Black Lives Matter or $1 million to the Live Nation Crew Nation campaign) and worked together with UNICEF in the Love Myself campaign - they donated 100% of the proceeds from the sale of official merchandise from the Love Myself campaign and 3% of sales revenue from each album in the Love Yourself series. Even on the occasion of the contract extension in 2023, BiG HiT made a donation on behalf of the BTS members. These are just a few examples, but there are a lot. Privately, they also often donate money for various purposes (e.g. J-Hope and Jimin made a donation to the UNICEF relief fund for earthquake-affected children from Turkey and Syria, Jungkook donated 1 billion won (approximately USD 765,000) to the Children's Hospital Seoul National University). These are just examples, as all members are extremely generous. But they often do not make their philanthropy public and only after a long time do their great hearts come to light. ARMY, like a fan club, does not collect money, but simply suggests official foundations or causes to which individuals donate money. Sometimes these are global shares, sometimes national ones.

Hi there! Been watching quietly for a long time 😊 thought I should say hello!! Love this with your mom. So sweet. I also recommend watching the Coldplay/BTS doc. It’s really beautiful how My Universe all came together. And it will answer all of your questions! Better to hear it all straight from the guys 💜💜💜 https://youtu.be/viM_c-Fc7sc?si=_MClDNX_tsZKnUFd

It’s so enjoyable to see you as the teacher now. And your mom is great. So insightful, asks great questions, seems really interested in everything. More mom content! Plus all her jokes (dynamite, dan, etc). Is she the Jin of your family? I concur with everyone recommending that you two should watch the BTS x Coldplay documentary too. It seems like your mom would dig it.

about donations, a fun fact you need to know is that in 2020 bts made a 1 MIL dollars donation for Black Lives Matter and ARMY, because of that, matched that donation and raised another 1 MIL dollars in just 24 hours. bts has influenced army a lot when it comes to being a good human being, so in concerts/events, army don't leave garbage, they do projects to reforest places and when bts asks army to dont go in the enlistment field, not a single one go there, to respect the other families. last year, bts debuted at #82 in the The Legacy Makers 100 List, they were the only singers in the List. The Legacy Makers 100 recognizes brands making an enduring contribution to people and society.
