I never realized how Yeosang-focus that compilation was but I'm glad you saw more sides of him. Also, most clips on that compilations are relatively old so it's funny seeing how things have changed. For example, I don't think ateez could still have a discussion similar to the one they had during that Christmas live, mainly because of the toxic fans and the shippers. Or at least, not that spontaneously. And it's a shame because I feel like there's so much to learn from the way they handle the whole segment in the actual vlive (them being open about being hurt, what they want from the other members, and Seonghwa/Hongjoong being the big bros mediating, etc...). For the "phone incident", during both vlives they did explain just after that Yeosang had both Mingi's old and new numbers, but in Yeosang's fashion, he forgot about that and called the old one instead. and it definitely became a running gag among the members. However, because kpop stans tend to learn about groups through compilations on youtube or short clips on tiktok which don't always have context with them, I'm not surprised some actually believed Mingi and Yeosang were not close ... which is funny considering how much time they spend together geeking off-camera. This whole thing actually reminds me of what Bangtan once said about some of the duos' chemistry (in my memory it was about Namjoon and Hobi's friendship) not translating well on camera while they are actually closer than what people would think. and that makes sense considering sometimes the members' "onstage" persona and energy don't always bounce off each other, or not like their "true self" would. anyway, thank for reacting to ateez again !

I’d like to give more explanation to Linaccessible’s comment. Yeosang and Mingi also said that they kakao to communicate which is the primary messaging and calling service. I think when they say they don’t call each other, they’re strictly talking about calls with their phone numbers and doesn’t apply to communication with kakao. As far as i know, Yeosang likes to send Mingi videos of cute animals. Also, Yeosang, at that time, was pretty frequently changing phone numbers according to HJ so it might have been that as well! Recently though, Yeosang even went out to eat dinner with Mingi and Mingi’s mom. It’s just a fun little joke they like to play but to certain extents, Ateez never revealed quite as much as that xmas live because the after-effects were pretty brutal on the three members involved. Some fans can often lose sight and awareness that no matter how much the members share, at the end of the day, the members know each other the best and we cannot make assumptions about their character and treat them as if they’re objective facts. Especially when it comes to acting on them and treating the members badly.

Exactly, and honestly, especially for this instance, it truly felt like some fans were projecting their own feelings and their own insecurities onto the idols and then acted like one member wronged another or something. It was really weird. That being said I totally get that people felt saddened by this, especially since the situation is very relatable. But still, we have to keep in mind that every friendship has ups and downs. And to me, it's all this that actually makes their group and their friendship even more genuine.

Literally, and like Seonghwa said, this became an issue because they love each other. Plus, when you have someone who has so much love like Wooyoung, someone who is really mature and understanding like San, and someone who prioritizes the happiness of everyone like Yeosang, you’re bound to overcome any “obstacles” or misunderstandings. We should let the three of them and ateez in general fight their own battles, they’re adults so they can handle it!

A group that swears a lot would be Super Junior, but they're an old school group lol. All the members are over 30 and the two oldest are 40 now. They've always been like that though haha
