I think Jin hasn't had that persona yet at that time. I mean the one he consciously created for himself later on. To me he seemed more natural and vulnerable those early years after debut. In my opinion he created his persona to protect himself from all the hate he's been receiving through years. Probably that's why now we see only those sides of Jin he consciously wants to show us and nothing else of real Seokjin slips into the public eyes, especially not his sad, dark, weak sides anymore.
