Loved this little Sunday morning livestream with everyone who showed up. What a beautiful performance at the end too. I don't think it gets much better hearing ARMY singing a song that is dedicated to them.

Thanks for the reaction, Max. Just a question, rise of bangtan is going to end in the love yourself era but are you going to continue with the album reactions which are not included in the episodes?

I think with jimin, I see a mixture. Sometimes he will go to hug or console after he mischievously say something, other times he don’t. But it’s just him being sassy. That side of him is pretty funny. Funnily enough namjoon faces that side of jimin pretty often especially when he spoil something in front of him

Not sure if people in the live chat explained already, but the last 2! 3! video was the origin of “I purple you.” Army wanted to surprise BTS during their muster/fan event concert so some fans organised on social media and brought coloured paper to cover their army bombs with. (The army bomb at the time was an early version only in white - the colour changing bluetooth ones came out a few years later, maybe inspired by this?) They only chose purple because it was the most visible in the dark, not really for any specific reason as far as I know. They brought enough purple paper for everyone at the concert to manually cover their bombs with, and BTS was genuinely surprised like they said. That’s when V spontaneously came up with “Do you know what purple means? Purple is the last rainbow colour and means that I will love and trust you for a long time.” And the “BTS purple” and “I purple you/borahae” came from then on. About jin’s heart events: yes, it’s so creative and charming! He did this for basically every show during the Wings tour (2017). Even the members didn’t know where he’d hide his hearts. For the Love yourself/speak yourself tour (2018/19) he changed it and decided to wear ridiculous sunglasses instead. Then in 2021 and 2022 he changed it again to various hats and hairstyles (a tiny ponytail, pigtails, ribbons, a pokemon hat…) So he’s done a different kind of surprise for every tour since 2017! He really enjoys the reaction it gets, haha - he must have had so much fun coming up with new ideas for each concert.

Yeah I always thought it was interesting that the “i purple you” origin was sort of glossed over in TROB, I feel like it’s such a key moment for bts and army

Hey Max! It's too bad you watched the wrong link for the Cypher medley live.. 😭😭 this video was blocked on youtube so it's mixed with fancams and it doesn't do real justice to it. In the full performance you can really feel the energy there and their strong presence. It's one of my favorite BTS performances of all time.. iconic rapline. I can't wait for you to listen to the Love Yourself albums, and get into that era and the message/storytelling, it's my favorite BTS era. They reached the top globally at that time and created so many masterpieces. I'm curious to see if Wings will remain your favorite album lol.

Does anyone know why Tae’s speech wasn’t included in the live video etc? It’s a shame that such an iconic and important moment for ARMY and BTS with the birth of Borahae and I purple you etc and purple becoming an official colour as a result was not included. It’s moments like these that I feel it’s a shame that so many newer Armies won’t know of these important events or the history of them. On a related but separate matter this is also my problem with Rise of Bangtan. I feel because it’s a fan edit people should bare in mind that the narratives built with the clip selection are very subjective. Especially obvious for people who have watched the full content and source material. So while it’s a very entertaining series and has many merits it also has many pitfalls so I would urge newer armies to not use it and compilation videos as their only source when getting to know BTS. It is worth the time and effort to watch the original source material and content in full. I hope you get the chance Max to watch the cyphers medley and other performances from other channels too. While enjoy BTS more does worthy work, because it uses a mixture of unofficial fan cams and proper concert footage to circumvent copyright laws it compromises the quality of the final results. There are many high quality channels out there to use for patreon. I can understand why YouTube reactors sometimes use enjoy BTS more, as it gives a higher chance for their reaction to stay up etc. To answer your question about Namjoon and Tae. They used to share a room in the early days. Namjoon in many interviews also said he was responsible for looking after Tae a lot of the time. When asked on the ‘after school club’ programme which member he particularly cared for he answered Tae. He said the same on the launch of run BTS and Vlive that he was in charge of looking after V. Tae for his part when they were talking during earlier festas and other times members mentioned having to sometimes remember that Namjoon was the leader and it creating a little awkwardness in their earlier interactions, he said he was only one who didn’t have that awkwardness with Namjoon. Namjoon very much looked after Tae even though as he said in his Bon voyage letter he found Tae very perplexing at the very beginning. It’s funny that just very recently on Korean community boards a past moment that encapsulates Namjoon’s paternal care for Tae went viral. It’s a clip from 2016 where they held a joint performance with a Japanese boy band. Where one of the members of the other band tried to kiss Tae’s hand. You can see Tae get flustered and a little scared while trying to remain calm and polite while trying to also pull his hand away. The picture where Namjoon then holds a spooked Tae’s hand after to comfort him was also a hot topic on the community boards. 💜

Hi. Tae's words/the origin of "I purple you" are at the end of episode 15 (Pied Piper) of TRoB, which we've watched some weeks ago so maybe it's not as fresh, but I agree, maybe it could have had a bigger spot in the series 🙂

Hi Alina, thanks for replying but i wasn’t referring to TRoB for that part… I remember the passing reference in the chapt of that. I was wondering why it wasn’t in the video from the performance when members were talking. Cause as far as I remember it was directly then that Tae talked about it. I think it’s more of a question of whether I was misremembering or confusing the order that day as in Tae had perhaps spoken in another ment later maybe a song or two later when he talked about it but I think it’s most probably a case of it just not being included by the video editor for their own reason. 💜

the preformance of 2! 3! was the begning of " I purple you" wish they included taehyung's speech in it,, it's such a shame that it was cut while being a big moment in ARMY/BTS history
