Still trying to get to the bottom of life's most important question: what is a babygirl?
I try to break it all down here.

Thank you for bringing attention to this incredibly serious and important topic. In my opinion: Stray Kids: Han is #1 supreme baby girl, with Changbin being a fake baby girl. Some people say Felix, but I disagree. Some people also say Lee Know, but he’s only baby girl sometimes for Chan. Ateez: Wooyoung is #1 baby girl, followed by Yeosang and maybe San. Mingi’s a princess, not a baby girl. Edit: Seonghwa is mother. TXT: Honestly I can’t think of a member that I’d say is the #1 baby girl… part of me leans towards Beomgyu

I love this video in evey possible way lol

Simply I think "Babygirlism" is just simply used to men who are not at all afraid of seen "feminine"

18:30 lol Seeing you getting purely excited as getting closer to the clear understand for the idea of "being a babygirl" in your own very logical and almost psychological and cultural sociological study-way brings me so much joy.. I donno why

Jiu Hwang

and I totally agree on your theory about WooSan dynamics! Their self-image and psychological wants definitely feed each other. Of course it's prolly just small part of their relationship

Delightful! I love how you got so into it! I really like your insights into how this babygirl/protector dynamic feeds Woosan’s closeness. I had never thought about it that way before.

Oh my god I can’t imagine him trying to figure out the definition of “mother” I would die. 😂

The very scientific approach of the concept is sending me! 😭 But you're right!! 🤓 Babygirlism is a hard concept to grasp, especially considering its variations across different subcultures. For example, in Hollywood, a babygirl would mostly refer to an actor who is +30 years old, such as Pedro Pascal ... But you're figuring shit out when it comes to male idols! From what I've seen, It's often the juxtaposition of playful, childish mannerisms with a feminine flirtatious aura/charm (or vice versa). And because the compilation is full of it, it's important to talk about aegyos. Although those concepts could be considered the same, both are fundamentally different. Idols doing aegyo may or may not be perceived as being babygirl. Jongho or J-Hope (who is full of Aegyo and is a big flirt) doing aegyo isn't seen as them being babygirl. In contrast, any aegyo from Wooyoung or Jimin is by default assimilated as a pure act of babygirlism. It's also worth noting that aegyo holds a cultural significance in Korean society, which is why I'd argue that (very controversial opinion here) aegyo is more related to submission and dependence than babygirlism! To be honest, the concept is just full of nuances. And for me, it's a very intuitive thing, just like a vibe check.

Regarding Ateez, in reality a lot of them come close to babygirling. They really have potential but often one factor is lacking for them to be their ultimate babygirl self and to be on the same level as Wooyoung: - The closest ones to achieve Babygirl are Mingi and Yeosang. They are 100% princesses in distress that you want to dote on, but they don't actively play into that side for shit and giggles like a Wooyoung would (Yeosang only does when interacting with atiny). - I know San is very masculine physically and on stage but he is also known as the fake Maknae of Ateez. Man is and acts like a cutie pie, constantly talking in pout, etc ... I think only his mannerisms don't match those of a babygirl. - Hongjoong is the visual representation of babygirlism (his stances, his mannerisms, the way he walks, his style ...) however his playfulness is too witty and savage. If he was a stereotype, he would be that single rich aunt who is very opinionated and who is constantly recounting their crazy life around the globe. - Seonghwa is the most feminine member of the group: both visually and in his interests (what is traditionally deemed as "feminine" ofc). And if he is very playful with his members like a babygirl, I still don't think of him as a one because in group dynamics he often acts as a mother hen. (And tbh even on stage he is MOTHER!) - Jongho and Yunho mostly activate their babygirl side when dancing to girl groups' music ! ☝️🤓

This was fun, funny, and matched my nerd brain perfectly. I did my masters in Media and Culture so I 100% feel you on having fun via overthinking fun stuff analytically. 'Babygirl' sort of originated from a meme. In general society 'babygirl' tends to be used as a term of affection and soft flirtation, implying a girl who inspires adoration and that 'you're one of a kind special I want to marry/treasure you' but coupled with a tone of idealised or high femininity. To a meme extent a babygirl can be seen as being aware of their allure and using it slightly to wrap people (especially men) around their finger, getting spoiled and enjoying it. The kind of cuteness that makes a man want to open his wallet and buy her anything just to see that cuteness type trope. In the context of kpop and especially men in kpop the term sort of transfers into the fan/artist relationship. A person who inspires that 'I want to treasure you and buy you anything you want to keep that cute smile on your face' kind of vibe. But it also picks out those feminine associated traits of cuteness, clumsiness, slight scatter-brained vibe, and a (sometimes accidental) flirtiness. Typically those you'd consider babygirls are distinct from other cute/feminine associated identities due to the way they enjoy that 'submissive' role in relationships. Either in a more flirty or a more childish way they enjoy someone taking control as a form of receiving affection. Some people- like Wooyoung- are very much babygirls primarily in a relationship context, the attention is affection and other people bring out their babygirlism (see also Lee Know when around Chan). Others- like Han- are true babygirls in all aspects of life whether someone is watching or not it's just how he is. You can see this distinction if you compare it to terms like 'mother' (feminine qualities that attract attention but with a vibe of elegance and inspiring submission in the viewer vs protection- there is a power vibe to it) or 'princess' (closer to baby girl, a little fussy, enjoys being cared for but with a soft submission in the viewer vibe, you show affection to the princess as a type of service and protect and care/spoil them but let them have the final word- or appear to). This is my take explained as best I can right now anyway. I would say Wooyoung babygirl, Seonghwa mother, Mingi princess. Han is my ultimate babygirl so far, Lee Know bridges babygirl, princess, and Queen elements depending on who he's with (for Chan he's more babygirl-princess, with fans he's more Queen). But mostly I really enjoy feminine associated traits and behaviours being a point of joy in men. It's refreshing and fun. I am here for this topic 😄.

20:55 I like this theory!

how I see it is a man being called “baby girl” is like the opposite of being called “daddy” 😭😭 as someone else mentioned, it was pretty much taken from the flirtatious use of “baby girl” towards women (which has since been memed) and been flipped back onto men that are typically a little more traditionally feminine and needy as opposed to the whole alpha male “call me daddy” thing if that makes sense haha

Hi! Could you react to Wooyoung, dancing on "Bad", as artist of the month, please 😊 https://youtu.be/xhoPI50W6i8?si=iApVBNbAkzDxFE3P

Max you should definitely react to when San and Hongjoong went on a talk show called BeMySide with I think one of the Host name is Punja and RalRal, where viewer would send in their problems/story to the show and the host give their response and vote if they agree or disagree with the storyteller, its really interesting and San and Hongjoong gave great/ interesting responses. I especially liked the episode where they discussed a viewer talking about how her husband sold her kpop merch ,their comments on that one were funny but so true. This is a link to that episode https://youtu.be/PaiXbyhb_Po?si=5GpGgEBIJwKquHdo
