I dunno, I think he is a nice guy overall, but the way he handled the whole "going to Africa" thing sticks in my craw. When you are in a long-term relationship, you involve your partner at every step of such a major decision. You don't talk to her about it once everything is set and there is nothing she can do about it. Even my good Ashley is not going to wait for him - he'll come back and she will be Jasmin pet, and it'll be his fault.

I agree. I also like that part about the character, since it makes him a good guy with some flaws. Makes it more realistic if Ashley breaks up and/or cheats. It means that both the good and bad girl paths work well for me.

Yeah, moreover for a nice guy he seems more than a little oblivious about her girlfriend's life crisis and unwilling to reconsider his decisions to support her. Admittedly these flaws make him a more nuanced character and are good for the story since they provide justification for Ashley to break up and/or cheat.
