In this episode we discuss the 2-0 win over Newcastle in the FA Cup. There's focus on young players Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson who didn't quite take the opportunity, as well as the impact of another youngster, Emile Smith Rowe, who really did. We talk about the game, Bernd Leno's significant contribution, the positive VAR decision, Aubameyang getting on the scoresheet, Nicolas Pepe, and the positive aspects of a game which wasn't especially memorable. We then have listener question as we explore the Willian situation and where it might end, a new deal for Rob Holding in the context of our current collection of centre-halves, who else we should be looking to tie down, the search for a goalkeeper in the January transfer window, who covers for Kieran Tierney and loads more.

I feel like Willock gets short shrift, both from us (fans, pundits, etc.) and from Arteta. He was playing with Willian and Elnenny for god’s sake. He’s not a Saka or ESR, but if he were given some time to play with those two I think he would begin to do some wonderful things for us.

🎶 Kieran Tierney, Kieran Tierney; magnifique! Love the intro. We should have lost if not for Leno. No love lost for players under achieving and started the game to fit into this new DNA. Either loan them out or sell. Plenty of players from the U23 (from Hale End and players we’ve recently bought), to move up since we are not a buying club like Manure and Shitty. The film Moneyball comes to mind. My 2p worth.
