Shiny Happy Furries - Siphedious Parody (Patreon)

Siphedious had an idea for a parody, and it happened to be of a song I am VERY familiar with. REM was hugely influential on my musical development, and the way they construct songs, write guitar lines, stack harmonies, were foundational for me. The tiered layers in the vocals, the interlocking riffs of bass and electric guitar, the fact that acoustic guitar is hanging out the whole time but you can barely hear it, WOW. I write just like REM. Or at least I used to.

As such, I did my best to copy the original as closely as possible. Did I succeed?

Lyrically this is commentary on toxic positivity. The original was commentary on Chinese state propaganda in the late 90s, specifically surrounding the Tienanmen Square Massacre.
