I'm very happy with how this turned out. I also feel like I say this every time I post a song, but it's true! I've been extremely satisfied with the work I've been doing lately. Part of it is that I have mostly stable-income thanks to generous support from viewers like you. Thank you for sticking around through hard times.

This song is for Zombie Squirrel, a person who has HUGELY helped me in hard times, and one I'm proud to dedicate a jam like this to. <3

TMBG levels are absolutely off the charts. This song features time signature changes sprinkled throughout. 7/8 bits in the verse, a dropped beat at the end of each verse leaving a lone 3/4 far, and of course the 13/4, (or 4+4+5 if you're spicy) bridge. This also has my first gradual TEMPO change on this scale. AAH!

The other influence here is Scurrow, a friend: https://ivemadetoomuchpasta.bandcamp.com/releases

His music has a freedom to it where the meter is less important than the words the song is stretched around. I tried to copy that. I'm a copy-er. Send me to copy jail. Also I'm copying Prince in that I'm playing the electric guitar.

Lyrics:

G C  D Em    F D

I’m loading the sacks that they described into my car

I’m making a mark on each, an S with railroad tracks

C D

Into the woods I am driving

Onto the stump I am placing

Out of the sacks they are taking all the

G  D   C E F G

acorns I had gathered for a down payment

G  C D Em    F D

I’m reading the letter of rejection from the bank

I’m walking back to the woods because my car is gone

C  D

There by the stump, a foundation

4th on the list past “location”

walls and a roof, my salvation. No more

G   D     C         E F G

acorns, just a door key, and squirrels with a hammer

Chorus:

Am D G Em

Squirrels built my house, they brought the lumber and the nails.

Am D    G

Permits were obtained, it was all up to code

Am D G Em

Squirrels built my house, with bitey teeth and puffy tails

 F  C G

and I don’t know where my life would be without them

G C  D Em   F D

Removing the termites proved a challenge of its own

and so did the roof which had been made out of small rocks

C  D

Getting to work and then presto

keep in the warm with the rest, oh  (last time C/A, D)

tree bark instead of asbestos lends a

texture to the ceiling, our house is our castle

(x02030, x20030, x32030, xx0230. Maintain the xxxx3x)

Am7    G/B C   D Am7 (F, then Bb)

And now I can only imagine where I’d be without them.

(repeat)

Chorus (final tag, F C Bb D G)
