PonE-Sharp, a fellow patron, commissioned this from me as a character theme for "Crouton" their gnoll. The reference music was from Neir Automata, and it opened a unique challenge for me. I usually work with physical instruments I can hold in my hands, and my voice. THIS song is constructed entirely of MIDI and samples (and my voice).

What do you think? Does it sound BIG? It sure follows my current trend of longer songs.

Lyrics: Heart of a Hero

Am9 Em7

Love does not often fall on me

Am9   Em7

though I was raised not to harm

Dm F

I cannot know my own strength, there are pieces of me

Dm     F

sometimes I need to hold back

Am9 Em7

Gone are the ones who would comfort me

those who knew I  was more than just teeth

Dm   F

If you could see how I’ve grown (none of us chose how to be born)

I know you’d welcome me home

Chorus:

  Am C

I got a heart inside my chest

F(2+5) F/D

willing me on through the powerful deluge

and when the world can’t beat my best

everything I do should be taken as proof

F D

that I’m not going down

    F D

No I will hang around

A

This knight in broken armor

Bb

is ready for a chance

 F

thicker than blood (blood of my father’s father’s father)

D

my honor lasts

Final Chorus:
Renew my faith with every breath

whatever way I choose, if I win or I lose,

I will design my family crest

and everything I do, complete with the follow through,

will show I am not going down (with the heart of a hero)

no I will hang around (with the heart of a hero)
