Started writing this on May 30th, a day with especially high police violence in response to protests against police violence. I tried to leave a lot of "space" in this one. No instruments, and not overbearing backing vocals. Will hopefully be recorded with a full on choir at some point.

Lyrics:

Moved Key of A

Chorus:

    A

You can’t beat it out of me

D

can’t tear my right from me

A/C#  E

no I will not be moved

   A A7/G

So sing out and shout it

D    GM7

stay gathered ‘round it

A/C# E  A

Say I, will not be moved

A

They do not teach the names of the

D A

ones that came before

F#m

the ones who died and bled

 Bm7 E

so that we could fight for more than the

A/C# A/G

freedom to shop at a

F#m   Bdim7/F

slightly different store

A/E E  A

may it burn down, and not be moved.

Chorus

We all need a home and we

need something to eat

and to walk at night alone and not be

murdered in the street by some

bully with a gun who’s job must

matter more than we do

lay down, do not be moved

Chorus

Every couple years we

repeat it all the same

march and sing a song

while cops shoot at future names

how many must we learn to

get our kind of change?

Won’t you help us to not be moved?
