More songs about death!

So I wanted to do a strum-along acoustic song and this was the result. Heavy influence from Neutral Milk hotel and TMBG per usual.

Lyrics:

G Em

In the bed where I sleep

  C

In the car that I drive, there’s a feeling

D   G

that creeps near the house where I live

G Em

All the food that I eat

C

and the drinks that I drink are all dead,

 D Eb

except for the ones that are alive

  Bb

The shoes where my feet go are moving me

F C

close to the job where I work, where my boss keeps the

G   G/F# Em    C

value of most of my labor till I find the

Am D G.. |N.C.

ground in the grave where I die

  C

Where I die

The floor’s made of dirt and the walls are all dirt

  D

and the ceiling is dirt

  C

Where I die

someone may purchase a carved piece of

Am   D.. |N.C. (bass walk: E, F#, G)

stone to put over my head

In the shower where I take a shower

so many ideas in my head where I think.

We could all work together to make what we needed

but money’s a thing, so I’ll kill you instead

through inaction

Now gaze on my terrible riches that

hide in the bank where our money is kept

from the homeless who simply don’t

know how to spend it

What if they waste it on need?

Where I die

The floor’s made of dirt and the walls are all dirt

and the ceiling is earth (which in turn’s made of dirt)

Where I die

my life insurance might be spent on

embalming goo we don’t need

In the field where the graves are all gathered

the only address you can stay at for free

I forgot that those plots are expensive so

C

Burn me, strip me, maybe wood-chip me, or

Am   D G

Throw me, in the sea.

G Em7

What a beautiful grave I have found
