Chapter 15.

Peter became furious as the days passed and he was being punished for something he didn't do. The worst part wasn't the punishment, but that he couldn't go to his gymnastics and dance class while Sophia could play volleyball all she liked. It wasn't fair!

“Mom, it wasn't me who tore up the backyard,” Peter told his mother. “It was Sophia and her friends.”

“Stop lying!”

“It was her; I can prove it.”

“How?”

“Sophia's team is playing a match today.”

“Sophia's team?”

“Yeah, she is the one who plays volleyball.”

“Not you?”

“No.”

“What do you do then when you go to the Y?”

“I umm, I mean I umm...”

“Tell me!” Mom demanded

“I was doing gymnastics.”

“You do?”

“Yes.”

“I don't believe you. Show me.”

Peter did a few flips and jumps.

“Anyone can do those.”

Peter had to do his entire routine to prove to his mother that he was doing what he said.

“I don't know.”

“Come to the Y and watch Sophia's match. Then you'll know who is the one playing volleyball.”

“OK, but if you are lying to me!”

“I'm not. I'm not.”

Peter and mom proceeded to the Y. Then took their place in the bleachers and watched the game. It was clear that Sophia was playing even though she looked like the rest of the boys on the team. Mom was furious that she was being lied to, although she didn't make a scene during the match.

Mom made eye contact with Sophia after the match. Mom crooked her finger, beckoning Sophia to come over.

“Mom, I can explain.”

“We'll talk about it when we get home.”

The entire truth came out. Sophia explained that she couldn't play volleyball any other way since there weren't any girls' teams. Sophia explained how she got Peter to join her. Mom didn't know what to think. Both her children were cross-dressing and pretending to be each other.

“Sophia, you'll have to quit volleyball?”

“Why?”

“You are simply too old to be on that team. That's one reason.”

“They don't know that.”

“Want me to tell them?”

“No!!!”

“Then you are quitting!”

“What about me?” Peter asked.

“You still want to be in gymnastics and dance?”

“Yeah.”

“You will have to do it as a boy then.”

“The guys will rag on me.”

“Not my problem.”

“I can't just go to the same classes. They all think I'm a girl.”

“So, you don't want to go anymore?”

“I do, but...”

“You can't lie to everyone and say you're Sophia.”

At the end of the day, mom's solution was that Peter and Sophia would quit their Y activities and both would be punished.

There was just one thing that bothered mom. Dr. Morris had told her that Peter told her he liked to wear girls' apparel. That wasn't the story that mom was getting from Sophia and Peter. Maybe, mom should go to Dr. Morris' office and talk to her.

End.
