Tommy looked into the room. He was at the door of what he knew was his bedroom although he also knew he had never seen it before. The room was a contrast of two colors: sapphire and ivory. The walls were painted ivory which matched most of the furniture: the bed headboard, the night table, the desk with his chair in front, dresser, carpet, and even the shades over the window was all ivory.

There was also sapphire everywhere. The sapphire-colored comforter dominated the room. It was long and flowy with pleats that extended past the end of the bed and onto the floor. The pillowcases were made of the same material on the outer ends with a somewhat smoother material on the inner parts, ruffles separated the smooth from the flowy. A sapphire-colored heart-shaped throw pillow was in the middle of the two sleep pillows.

A soft material that matched the bedspread covered the chair in front of the desk as well as one of the end tables. On top were a plant and an ivory picture frame containing a photograph of a ten-year-old girl.

Tommy took a step into the room. He could feel his long nightgown brush against his leg. He looked down and could see it extended all the way to the floor and that the nightgown was in the same sapphire colors as the rest of the room. He was wearing a long layered free-flowing nightgown. It had delicate flutter sleeves and a floral pattern lining the neck for an added feminine touch.

When Tommy saw the bare skin on the top of his chest, he could see black hairs over the top of the nightgown. His arms also looked like the usual masculine arms he expected. He couldn't see his feet; they were under the bottom of his nightgown, but he assumed they looked like the man's feet he expected.

Once in the room, Tommy saw the long mirror that ran across the closet. It was easily six feet long and seven feet high. He stepped in front of it. What he saw shouldn't have surprised him, but it did. He didn't see his face or any manly face at all.  He could see the same face as shown on the framed picture on his nightstand. The rest of his body matched the picture, he couldn't see his own body, but only the body of a slightly-built, ten-year-old girl wearing a pretty nightgown. Tommy somehow knew that under his flowy gown, he wore girl's full-cut panties. He didn't have any doubt that those panties were in an ivory color.

Tommy lifted one of his hands to his face to make sure it was him. Looking at his actual hand, it was the same large masculine hand he expected. But the reflection showed the delicate hand of a girl with nails painted sapphire. Tommy stared into his reflection. “So, this is how everyone sees me,” he thought.

In the corner by the door, Tommy saw a book bag. It was sapphire in color. He didn't have to look inside to know that the books contained the work of a fifth-grader.

The lamp on the night table was on, so when Tommy turned off the overhead light the room was still lit somewhat. He pulled a corner of the comforter back and got into bed. He had to smooth his nightgown so it wouldn't ride up. He propped himself up on the pillows to allow himself to read in bed. There were two books on his night table, he believed that one would be the key to ending his nightmare. It would explain what happened and how to end it. The other one would just waste his time.

Tommy looked at the titles of both Nancy Drew books. They were The Spider Sapphire Mystery and The Mystery of the Ivory Charm. He had to guess right because his former life was fading away fast. He was starting to worry about the book report that his teacher Mrs. Fishbine assigned. The report was due Friday; only three days away. He needed to ace the report because his last report only received a C+.

Tommy tried to put his school worries out of his mind. He had something much more important he had to do. Tommy picked up his book and started to read. Less than a minute later, he started to yawn. His eyes fluttered and the book fell to his chest. About a half-an-hour later, Tammy's mother Took the book and replaced it on the nightstand. She turned off the lamp and left the room.

End.
