<Act 4>

Voice over: When we last saw Robin and Batgirl there were in a heap of trouble. The Mad Hatter was planning to swap their minds. Batman hasn't any clue of what the Mad Hatter is planning. But he knows they need his help as he rushes to the Mad Hatter's hideout.

Looking inside the Black Derby through an outside window, Batman sees Robin and Batgirl on adjacent gurneys They both seem unconscious. They look fine except for the skullcaps on their heads which are connected to a machine between them. The machine doesn't seem to be activated.

Batman has to think fast. He doesn't know what the Mad Hatter has planned for them, but whatever it is, Batman knows it can't be good. Inside with the Mad Hatter are several henchmen. There are too many to take on by himself. Not with the life of the helpless Batgirl and Robin at steak. Batman needed a diversion.

Batman races to the other side of the building and plants some batbombs. These devices will make a loud noise but not cause any real damage.

Returning to his catbird view, Batman waits for his diversion to be triggered. He only hoped it would be in time before the Mad Hatter activated his device.

***BANG***

The Mad Hatter and his crew turned towards the noise.

“OPEN UP! THIS IS THE POLICE!” an animated voice proclaimed.

The Mad Hatter and his henchpeople filed out to greet the threat. Batman snuck in. He couldn't carry both Robin and Batgirl at the same time. He had to make a choice and selected Batgirl to save first. It was the proper thing to do.

Batman scooped up Batgirl and threw her over his shoulder. She was easy to carry. She didn't even weigh a hundred pounds. Exiting the way he came, Batman carried Batgirl to safety.

Batman tenderly placed Batgirl on the soft grass. He looked her over for a second, she wasn't moving, but she was breathing. Taking the bat-smelling salts from his utility belt he placed them under her nose.

When Batgirl started to awaken, Batman told her, “Wait right here, I have to save Robin.”

Batman turned to head back to the Black Derby. He hoped he would not be too late to retrieve Robin.

“To get Robin,? Batgirl thought. “What do you mean? I'm Robin.”

Robin (in Batgirl's body) propped herself up on her elbows. She could see Batman running towards the building. She forced herself into a sitting position and then stood up. Something felt wrong but she didn't have time to investigate. Robin started to run, but wasn't accustomed to running in heels and quickly fell on her face, uttering a high-pitched yelp.

On her hands and knees, she looked at her feet noticing for the first time the boots she was wearing. She also saw that her costume was purple. It wasn't the flesh-colored tights and green shoes she usually wore. Her gaze ascended her body focusing on her new breasts.

“What are these?” she asked rhetorically. Remaining on her knees, her body straightened, and instinctively she brought her open-gloved hands to her new chest. ‘Robin’ recognized who she was even though she thought such a transference was impossible. “HOLY TRANSGENDER, I'M BATGIRL!”

Her hands moved down her torso to her narrow waist and then her relatively wide hips. She brought her hands to her crotch and then immediately pulled her hands away. It didn't seem appropriate to touch there.

Not knowing what to do, Robin sat on her butt. She wasn't concerned with fighting crime or anything that Batman was doing. What she needed was a mirror to confirm what she already knew. She held out the impossible hope that what she thought, wasn't really true. That she was still Robin the Boy Wonder. But she knew in her heart that wasn't the case.

Robin stared at her body. She didn't dare touch it anymore. It didn't feel right. Her costume was as she remembered Batgirl's. But he had never seen it from this perspective. It was purple and yellow. Looking at her hands, she could tell they were smaller than before. She didn't feel weaker, but that was because she didn't have anything to compare her strength with.

After a few moments, Robin got up. She didn't have anything else to do. She approached the Black Derby. She started slowly, but eventually accelerated into a moderate trot. She entered the building through the same entrance that Batman did. She found him alone.

“It's too late, they took Robin,” Batman explained.

“I'm Robin,” she informed him.

Batman didn't reply as he didn't understand what Robin had said.

“I'm Robin. I mean Robin is in here. I was body swapped with Batgirl?”

“Body swapped with Batgirl?”

“Yes, that is what must have happened. I'm Robin in Batgirl's body. At least I think I am.”

Batman looked over the equipment. It was clearly labeled now that he could see it. The device between the gurneys that Robin and Batgirl were on was called a “Body Swap Transfer Device”.

“You're my old chum Robin?”

“Yeah, I'm Robin.”

“I swear to all that is holy, I will swap you back.”

“I know you will. Do I really look like Batgirl?”

“Yes, here's a mirror.” Batman handed Robin the batmirror. Batman's utility belt was more complete than Robin's. Robin could finally look at her cowled, but pretty face.

“Are you alright?”

“Yeah, Batman. I knew what had happened, but seeing it is still disturbing.”

“Let's get back to the Batcave and map out a stratagem.”
