The Elevator Twenty-Eighth Floor (Patreon)

Cardonali the magical imp was doing what he always did, he caused  trouble to others for his own amusement.  Cardonali had the ability to  put any thought into a person's mind and manipulate them as he wanted  to.  He stood unobserved or at least unacknowledged in the back of an  elevator waiting to see who would get in.

When the doors of the elevator were closing on Miles and Kayden for the second time, they were looking at the hair of a pretty young woman who was leaving the building.  "Look at that messy-updo on that girl. Do you think I could pull off a cut like that?"

"You, not with your dark hair.  Maybe if you tinted it to red?"

"Doesn't matter.  Miles, for the first time in your life you were right, why get all hot and sweaty playing racquetball, going to the salon was a much better idea.  I don't know why I left my hair so short for so long, this is much better.  Do you really like it?"

"Of course I do.  It's just that one strand of hair that is in front of your eyes."

"It's supposed to be that way.  It's the style now."

"Fine, if you like it.  I just think a stray hair like that would drive me nuts.  Do you think Sandra (Kayden's girlfriend) will like my braids?  I haven't had pigtails since I was a pre-teen.  But I thought, 'hell why not.'"

"I think they are adorable.  If you like them, who cares what she thinks?"

"You are right!"

"I did want to ask you one thing?"

"What?"

"Do you think I should shave my face clean like yours?"

"Naaa, I like it this way.  It goes well with your wavey bob style."

"That is what I thought, but I wanted your opinion."

"But..."

"I knew there would be a but."

"I do think you should reshape your eyebrows.  They are very bushy."

"Look whose talking!"

"My brows are a thousand times better than yours!"

The elevator stopped at Kayden's floor. he got out.  Once Miles was gone, Kayden looked at his brows again in the mirrored surface of the elevator.  He wouldn't admit it out loud, but Miles was right about his brows.

Miles wanted to look at his hair more closely in a proper mirror with proper lighting.  He would do that as soon as he got home.  Due to Cardonali's influence, he was obsessed with his hair.  Kayden was also, but whereas Miles preferred the longer hairstyle women in their thirties might like, Kayden preferring the hairstyle of girls ten and younger.
