Also, a LOT of this movie was practical. This was an incredibly expensive movie, even for today. They built an entire side of the ship on the ocean and entire interior sets that could be flooded.

A very common comment is the piece of wood was big enough for Jack to get on too, you'll hear that a lot on the Youtube edit. What people don't take into account is the wood wasn't buoyant enough for both to stay out of the water enough not to freeze.
