Was that a bark of ‘hello' or a warning? 👀 We do know from some past facts that Mal has a soft spot for strays, so that's a promising sign. Mal has no ill will towards the puppy, just some one-liners about the RO's suggested name, but aside from that, they're all good with her. :D
