Question: "How important is family for J, do they actively initiate family activities especially with A?"
Answer: The Corvins instill the belief that family is everything. (You all will be meeting J's parents in Book Two; this should provide more insight into what/who shaped J as a person.)
Because of this, J tends to put their family first even at the expense of what they themself want, although there have been some departures from their parents' wishes as well. (Their role as the town's detective comes to mind.) But let's focus on A; it's an easier topic that J much prefers.
J would do just about anything and everything for A. This sibling bond is something even R can remark on during certain routes, but I do think it shines through in those scenes in Chapter 6. It's true that J somewhat 'coddles' their younger sibling; we will get into why this is later on. Their childhood on the Corvin farm, which is more remote compared to the town, did allow for them to be that much closer as playmates and friends in addition to sharing blood. Within Book One, we see that A has been missing J as of late due to them working more on the MC grandfather's case and keeping late hours. This implies the two do spend time together. In general, I would say A tends to initiate the family activities with J, encouraging them to take breaks and loosen up.
J still does talk, if not confide, in A on occasion. 👀 The siblings have gone through a few rough patches, including when the MC left Fernweh, but they always have each other's back in the end.
