In the end product, I'd kinda like to get the individual frames viewable on their own! Each one really is a nice lil' picture on their own, ya know?

Unfortunatelly, the game engine is not that good at handling mid-to-big size images, since it has a VERY limited memory for that, so the framerate has to make some heroic self sacrifice to keep quality.

Have you tired the plugin VPlayer by Pheonix KageDesu? You might be able to use it in cutscenes.
