If you want to know about Zuko's mother then you'll need to read the comics. I believe the particular one for that is titled "The Search" There are several comics however that are all part of the story leading from this into Legend Of Korra. If you want to watch Korra without the comics that's fine too, the beginning of Korra will fill you in on the need to know bits.
