Hey everyone!
I present my newest design, The Social Cell. This is a jail cell for smartphones and other small items! The design prints 100% support free, and requires no assembly afterwards. Just print the building, print the door, and slide it into place to lock it. Don't forget to print the key so you can get it open!
The video you see up top is an animation I created in Fusion360 to show how it works, but you can find photos of it actually printed in the Archives!
As you can imagine this design can be used in a number of different ways, but here's why I made it to begin with. The main inspiration comes from a game my friends and I would sometimes play when we were out.
Say we were at a restaurant for dinner and drinks. We would all place our phones in a stack in the center of the table and the first person to touch their phone would owe everyone else a round of drinks. Sounds a little goofy, but it was always a fun way to keep people engaged in our time together. Also makes you realize how often you check your phone without even realizing it!
Back to the design; I wanted to create an accessory to that game and figured why not put the phones behind a lock and key. I suppose it could also be a great way to lock away your kids' smartphones when they're acting up, haha.
This design was also an excuse for me to try and design a compliant lock and key mechanism, which I was very happy with how it turned out! All relevant print instructions and photos of the finalized print are now in the archives. Here is the link if you want to download it!

I hope you enjoy this design, and as always thank you all very much for the support!
