Fantastic reaction and great choice!! So glad to see you giving movies like this a try, I have to think the reason it isn't more popular is not enough people have watched this, or think it's like the sequels. I love how Rambo is at his most talkative with his buddy's wife. That's his true character, warm and friendly. Everything else is all because of those 2 cops. Even then, he doesn't intentionally kill a single person (sorry doggies!) in the entire movie.

The Rambo franchise is a beautiful example of irony. First Blood: A haunting examination of PTSD and the treatment of Vietnam veterans returning from the conflict, which uses violence to deglorify it. Rambo is unfairly treated by the police of the town he's just trying to pass through, but his actions escalating the conflict are not heroic. He's a damaged, broken man essentially abandoned by the country he served. Every other Rambo movie: Blood! Explosions! Pew pew pew pew YAAAAAAY VIOLENCE!
