Before I start working on a review comic, I go to the product's website and save as many promotional shots of the item in question to use as reference. Some sites will only have one or two pictures of JUST the object by itself, but other sites will have a veritable cornucopia (PORNucopia?!?!?) of photos not only of the thing but people interacting WITH the thing! Fortunately, Liberator falls into the latter category and I found the promotional image at the very top.

Matt laughed when I told him, "I'm going to draw you in that position."

I wasn't joking.

Unfortunately! I was down at my studio (Helioscope) and my handsome husband was working from his home office when I was ready to start drawing, so I couldn't get him to pose for me.

Fortunately! Studiomate Ron Chan has a fairly similar build to Matt's and, most importantly, he generously agreed to pose for me. WHAT A SPORT!!! Give his Tumblr and Twitter a follow! If his art looks familiar, that's because he's drawn for a million comics and video games that you've probably seen, like the Plants vs. Zombies comic series!

A quick but spine-bending photo shoot later I had the reference pictures I needed to get back to work. Obviously I fudged some anatomical realities in the drawing, like how high a person can raise their neck and head in that position /:) BUT IT'S CLOSE ENOUGH, OK?

This was drawn for our review of Liberator's Black Label Esse Chaise (aka: The Fuck Couch) that went live a couple weeks ago.

Who says that drawing comics is an isolated, sedentary job?

Ah, your studiomates are very good sports. Helioscope looks like such a fun place to work!
