Catch up on the progress of Naked City 122 from Week One and Week Two.

Now, I said I'd update weekly, and obviously I haven't. Matt gave me a green tea which is not my usual fare and now my blood feels like it is vibrating. That's not why I skipped Week Three's update, but it is why I'm building these sentences like a flea on an open face book, hopping back and forth over the words, skipping forward to type a noun, bouncing backwards to delete an adjective, hopping forwards again to fix the misspelling of that last noun, going all the way back to my first sentence to see if I forgot to write entire words because my brain was just going to fast to realize I was leaving out the in-between connector words that make a sentence coherent.

Naked City 122.

I got frustrated with it? So I just didn't work on it for a handful of days, most of a week.

I wasn't doing a good enough job! I wasn't doing a good enough job of turning the photos from my INTERESTING POSES folder into little paper cutout people. Some of them I stayed too faithful and in doing so made them too stiff or realistic. Some of them I cartoonified so much that they just didn't, I don't know, they just fucking sucked. I should have done a better job. I should have drawn them better. I should be constructing far more intricate, interesting poses for them. I was letting them down. I was letting the little paper cutout people down.

Obviously the little naked people don't think that because they're not people they're paper shaped like people-silhouettes and have no opinions.

So what.

So what if I'm not doing a "good enough" job.

So what if I'm not -- oooooooh wow. I just felt the caffeine DRAIN out of my brain. Oh boy. Oh wow.

Ok, look. I finish this piece on January 31st. That was the plan all along. Just add a new figure to this thing once a day for one month and then see what I've got. Well. Here is what I've got so far:

January 25

Stock photo that I found while searching for "climbing" and cannot find credit for, although reverse google image search did turn up this page?

January 26

Storm Large once flashed me in a coffee shop while Matt and I were interviewing a potential book agent. She also posted this photo in 2019 which I squirreled away into my POSES folder to use someday and it turns out that day was January 26. (In the end, we decided to go with a different agent, though it had nothing to do with being flashed by Storm Large. That was just an awesome bonus.)

January 27

I posed for these ones, myself!

This is a picture Google image search gave me when I was looking for acrobatic upside down photos. Doing a reverse-image search just now, I absolutely cannot find credit info, I'm sorry!

This is my favorite thing I've drawn this month.

Ok, so now we are all caught up!

Let's look at January 1 and January 27 side by side:

Here's some wider shots!

Four days to go and then Naked City 122 will be ddddddddddone! And I'll have done a good enough job on it U_U

Ah how I'd love to live there.

I loved this project. You have always been amazing at figure drawing anyway so being able to see your crafty side using your figure drawing side in such a unique way is a treat. I hope you come back to this type of expression some day.
