Finished roughly penciling the remaining three pages of this six page comic AND THEN I even got one page inked! Tuesdays are just supposed to be my penciling days, so that means I'm kinda ahead of schedule right now!

This next comic is about herpes, which is a subject I've wanted to cover for a long time now, but I've been too scared that the internet would be mean to me. Cos I'm using this comic to come out about having oral herpes. There's so much shame around having an STD, even if it's one that 80% of Americans already have. Although is it an STD if you got it as a child before you were sexually active?

Anyway. Hopefully this comic will help take away some of the shame around it for some people. I know I really appreciated when Amanda Palmer wrote about having it, and if publicly owning up to having herpes is good enough for Amanda Fucking Palmer then it's good enough for me.

Isn't the oral version so common as to be present in a majority of adults? Anyone who'd shame you about that is nuts... (As it happens, I don't have it myself -- my spouse and I both got tested when they were participating in a vaccine trial, years ago. I think I must be immune; considering the number of people I've snogged, I *have* to have been exposed.) I heard that apparently a tailored version of the virus has shown promise as a treatment for cancer -- the mechanisms that make the cells proliferate also make them vulnerable to it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oncolytic_herpes_virus

People get shamed for having cold sores? Really? That's... that's really sad :( Congrats on being ahead of schedule, though!
