Last year Matt's mom sent us an artificial Christmas tree, which is the first tree we've had since moving to Portland nine (me) and seven (Matt) years ago. This brought to light another decoration we've never possessed, Christmas tree ornaments. We bought our very first one, a wooden snowflake, and I wrote all of our names (including Flapjack our horrible cat) and the year on it to commemorate Our Very First Tree and Our Very First Ornament. We meant to get more I guess, I mean, I assume we must have? But we never did, so it was just the lone snowflake on the plastic tree.

Last week we went to a handful of silly boutique-y and tchotchke-type stores, looking for this year's ornament, but nothing felt "right." Then I realized I'm a fucking artist, I can just goddamn MAKE one! I asked Matt to name his favorite vegetable (broccoli) and got to work on the design.

Using Last year's snowflake as my size template, I made the broccoli to take up roughly the same amount of space. I'm SUPER STOKED I got to FINALLY use one of the ridiculous, fancy label stickers I picked up on a whim ages ago from the scrapbooking department of our grocery/general store. Matt tries to talk me out of impulsively buying paper art accouterments because he knows they just end up in my art drawers and never see the light of day, but every now and then I DO ACTUALLY USE ONE which totally justifies continuing to indulge in my packrat tendencies.

So now our tree has TWO WHOLE ornaments on it!

Fuck yeah! I am crushing Christmas!

(Yes, I see I misspelled "gold" on the photo above but I am too entertained at the prospect of pronouncing that word "goild" to go back and correct it)
