I MADE ANOTHER WEIRD LITTLE VIDEO.

YOU'RE WELCOME.

---------------------------

As for the most pressing question I'm sure most people will have after watching my very professionally produced video: The Death Star™ Ice Mold itself is very underwhelming.

It was surprisingly hard to get the water to go in through the funnel and then the resulting ice was... well, some portions had sufficient Death Star™-y designs embedded in the surface, but most of it was just a cloudy frozen orb. WHICH IS ACTUALLY COOL, now that I think about it. A sphere of ice is objectively cool (no pun intended. Wait, no. PUN RETROACTIVELY INTENDED), but when you were expecting a Death Star™.... Well.

In all honesty, the mold itself probably won't get used again, but that BOX. That BOX is sturdy as fuck, opens and closes easily, and has been in constant use for storing my wooden craft beads and now it's also a little bit of an art object on my shelf to boot! The mold gets one star, the BOX gets five.

--------------------------

Anyway, if you wanna try  making your own Death Star™ ice sphere, here's an affiliate link to Amazon, which, at $12, I'm pretty sure is a couple dollars cheaper  than the Instagram ad I bought mine from. ALTHOUGH, now that I've done a little googling, there are even CHEAPER versions out there too??? What the fuck, you can get it for $6.99 from Sur Le Table?! (That one isn't an affiliate link, because Sur Le Table has not yet started selling sex toys, therefore Matt never set up an affiliate account with them. But really, with a little imagination, what isn't a sex toy? Note to self: Poke Matt to make an affiliate account with Sur Le Table)

-------------------------

I've been on break this whole month and it's been really good for me. I was intending to make a bunch of art but instead I've thrown myself into doing some intense house restructuring stuff that has been building up for a few years now. Lots of reorganizing, constructing and sanding and priming and painting furniture and then realizing your original paint color was a huge mistake so you RE-paint it with a color that you mix yourself from some way old paint left over from when your home was re-sided ages ago and it actually turns out great, wriggling into the attic to close off the squirrel hole (Sorry squirrel! I actually do feel bad about locking you out of your Squirrel Mansion), and just generally giving the house the attention that its needed for way too long. It definitely feels creative, even though I  don't have bizarre little art objects to show for it. It's its own kind of art. House Art.

My break is almost up, though, and I'm anxious/excited to get back to work. Matt and I have been figuring out what changes to make behind the scenes so we can keep doing this weird little job and not have me have to go the hospital quite so much because of it. I think we've got a solid game plan and I'll be sharing it with you folks when we're ready to implement it.

Thanks for being here. Really. This Weird Little Job wouldn't exist if it weren't for you and I -we- are just so grateful we have the ability to do what we do because actual, real, individual people want us to keep doing it. It means a lot. It really does.

xoxo

Boxing Day

I got Matt a Death Star-shaped ice mold and then I claimed the box it came in for myself to hold my wooden beads. This... is the story of its transformation. http://www.patreon.com/ErikaMoen

If you decide to try the ice orb again, try boiling the water and letting it cool before adding it to the mold! It helps it to freeze clear instead of cloudy!

I don't know why, but "Clothespin Magic" cracked me up. Nice video, I'm glad you're enjoying your creative endeavors!
