Have you ever seen a radish flower?

It’s not something I ever thought about, until I saw my own blossoming.

You think of radishes and you think of the red root vegetable bundle you buy at the grocery store, if you think of them at all. Radishes are dinner.

But to a radish?

They’ve got their own directive. They’re trying to grow as big as they can so they have enough resources to make some flowers so they can motherfucking reproduce so their little seeds can spread and repeat the process.

Dinner? Dinner, my ass!

They’ve got a whole life cycle they’re trying to make it through!

Aren’t we all?

We reduce the people and things around us down to the elements that affect us directly and don’t see, can’t see, how complex they are beyond that.

Radishes make flowers, your bully is suffering with their own pain, the person who runs your favorite inspirational quote Instagram account is so much more complicated and contradictory than the pretty images they post. I mean, we’re all savvy media consumers here, you don’t need me to tell you that.

But, still. Did you know?

Radishes grow flowers.
