Packing up for the Emerald City Comic Con tomorrow. Despite pre-travel-and-exhibiting anxiety, my brain felt mostly normal today. Thank god.

The good news, dad's cancer is treatable.

Unfortunately, it's a case of the cure being worse than the disease.

We're trying to plan the logistics of how I'll come up to help take care of him in Seattle.

I gotta be honest here, I don't know how I'm gunna hold my shit together when he can only be fed through a hole cut in his belly with a tube sticking out.

Long, full day of selling comics at the Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle.

Sat next to David Kelly, my comics teacher I had as a 14 year old, on the LGBT panel today. 13 years ago he was introducing me to layout, inking, character design... all of it. Now we talk to each other about our up-coming books.

A young teen girl with bright pink hair was in the audience. During the Q+A she came up the microphone to ask our panel some normal questions about becoming a comic artist-- but she introduced herself saying that I had spoken in her comic class last year at her high school (which had also been mine, and was where I'd taken my class with David) and it had really made her want to become a cartoonist. I remembered her and asked her to come by my table afterward, but I didn't see her. I hope she comes by tomorrow.

Last picture of my dad and me before he starts treatment.

Waiting for the bus home after our train ride from Seattle, two groups of people started yelling at each other from around the corner. One of the guys threw the phone of the other guy into our line or sight. After he'd run into the street to pick it back up, he pulled out his gun and ran back. The bus-waiters and I started to panic, unsure if we're supposed to hide or run or what. One guy was in the process of calling 911 when our bus, thankfully, pulled up.

I've never seen a gun out in the public being waved around before. What the fuck is wrong with people.

Man you guys, I'm pretty tired after the weekend in Seattle. Allowed myself to sleep in, did a bit of work but not Real Work at the studio, and then had Terri and Stew come over for a "We Survived the Con" pizza dinner.

Vegging oooooooout.

Also worth noting, this is the first day in over two weeks that my lady parts haven't been in active agony. CELEBRATION.
