This is my current project, an embroidered wreath of beets.

First, the sketch!

Then, the line work, so I can trace it onto my fabric!

Voila, traced! I use a special marker that's made specifically for fabric and the ink washes right off with a little bit of water. I'd tell you the name but I don't remember. If you go to a craft or fabric store and give them that description, they'll know what you're talking about.

Note the one row of stitches on the furthest left beet that is slightly darker than the rest. Oops.

I was worried that top, dark green leaf was tonally too similar to the beet, so a friend suggested I add some lighter thread over it to create more contrast. Not sure if I like it or not? But I figure I'll finish filling in all the rest of the leaves and then come back to it.

The camera on my phone is quite fickle, which is why the photo quality changes so dramatically over the course of this post. It's almost as if you drop your phone a bunch and it doesn't work as well? Man, I dunno.

All's I know is that I'm in that phase of this project where I'm bo-o-o-red with it and want to start the next one already. Next one I wanna do something that focuses on line work, instead of filling in big blocks of space with solid colors.

So I was gunna get some worky-work done today (as opposed to hobby-work) but by chance I looked at my calendar just now and realized I actually made a date with someone today in just about an hour! Fuck! I mean, I'm excited to go do the thing with this person, but also, I totally thought today was 100% free so I could finish up the last page of next week's update. It's the hardest page, so I saved it for last like a lazy daisy. WISH ME LUCK, CHUMS.

I gotta say, I really enjoy your embroidery posts. I did a tiny amount of embroidery when I was a teenager, and not since, but I love seeing your whole process. Thanks for posting these!
