[Devlog] State of the Nexus #5 (Patreon)

¡Hey friends!

August started with a heatwave, and I'm melting down, boy this apartment is an oven…

So, back to work!

During these last two weeks I made some major progress on stuff I was soft-stuc, so I'm very happy about this, even if these aren’t major game-changing things. (or are they?)

First, Dungeon Coup

I remade the whole facial animation system. I haven't finished it completely, I have to do some more fine-tunning, mostly between male and female variations, but here is the deal: previously facial animations will instantly change from 0 to 100. This isn’t ideal, because it doesn’t look natural, at all, but I couldn’t make it work in any other way.

Well, last week a big brain developer friend helped me use a new process to make the changes smoothly over time, and after learning to use this new tool, I had to completely rewrite the whole facial animation system.

Now, this took a lot of hours, but im very happy with the result, specially because this new system can be used for all kinds of facial expressions, not just sex ones. And I can adapt and use this new and improved system for Project Nexus as well. (The previous system was very limited to KYFC’s requirements and setup, the new one can work with almost everything I throw at it!, Im finally starting to get gud)

I also fixed a bunch of errors in Dungeon Coup, but I can’t put enough emphasis on how big this is for me, even if for you guys and gals it is barely noticeable.

Im also steadily progressing on the Story mode, i'm like 60% done, and I took a lot of the feedback from Kinky Fight Club’s story mode to make this better. However, Dungeon Coup’s story is way shorter. (13 chapters, down from almost 100 in KYFC)

There will also be 4 short romance-like scenes. (however you will only be able to see one per playthrough, because they all happen at the same time)

Now, onto Project Nexus!

In a stroke of genius I managed to complete an idea I had before but was stuck. So now I'm happy to present to you: areola size sliders!

Previously I had the beard-slider used only by the male characters, (I mean technically female characters could also use it, but how many players will really choose to play a female character with a beard?) so I repurposed it for female characters, and they can use that slider to change the areola size!

I also reworked the appearance of the nipples, and now they properly scale with the skin tone, being always a little more dark and red-ish than the skin tone, regardless of the skin color (including random colors like red, blue or violet).

This together with the areola improvement makes for the last touches that were missing for the characters to be completely ready!

These two things may not look like huge stuff, but they are to me, because I had many requests and/or complaints about these things, and I always try to take constructive and useful feedback to improve the game.

So, yeah, That’s pretty much it, these last two weeks were also particularly peaceful, it seems 2021 has given up on trying to kill me each month, which is nice.
