Originally I was planning create a male version of the Macrophage character, and that was going to be the first character we give to the community, and Exa was going to be released when the game was complete. However, after giving it a lot of thought, and realizing how long it takes to prepare a single character in Anime style, I don't think it's realistically possible to do 3 characters while creating the tutorial series simultaneously.

As a result, in the spirit of being able to make good time, I think it's best to go forward with the character we've already nearly completed. Instead of being the last character we release, she will likely be the first, and possibly only character we have time to create for the community this project - If I'm lucky, I may be able to complete the Virus enemy model for the community as well, but we'll see if we have the time.

So, that's one of the big changes I think we'll be making going forward -
100k special video is probably gonna come out tomorrow, so I'll see you guys there!

(BTW - The image is just using Flat Shading, not Anime Shading)

I'm a little torn on how to react, certain characters I get emotionally attached to while creating their back stories and wouldn't want to just give them away. If you don't have any attachment to her it makes sense timewise to use the character that is built instead of creating a new one.

I think that it's a great decision. Hard calls are usually good calls. And narratively, it can work. It's important to do what's right for the game/story versus what is comfortable.

Thanks, yeah It was definitely one of the harder calls to make :( There's a piece of me that has so many ideas for models and character's I'd like to make, and there's another piece that knows we'll never finish in time if we go to far down that path - Finding that middle-ground is rough.

I'm pretty torn too because I do actually get emotionally attached to every character I design. We've also been building her for that last 2 years, so I think she probably has a connection to others in the community too. So, I try not to see giving her away as "throwing her away". I try to view it more like "She's volunteering to help people who need her for projects", At least, that's my head-cannon for it -
